Bethany 2013

I'm ready to rock!!!

I *think* I'm ready for anything the Bethany throws my way! Front fender bag contains tow rope and gas siphen hose. I installed a rear rack that now safely holds my DMX2 tool pack, spare spark plug, spark plug socket/wrench and tire tube patches/glue.

Bring it on Bethany, I dare you!!! ;)

I'm bringing... my tail bag to stash my layers of clothing. That's about it ;)

hahahah, well one set of tools & equipment per group are likely enough but I DO recommend everyone bring along a spare spark plug for your machine properly gapped!!

So are we going to GTAM-group-up? How many guys are confirmed attending from GTAM?

Yes, I guess you are the tool-man then for the GTAM? :o
Anyone have an air pump?
And why are you talking Spark plugs?

Yes, I also have a hand air-pump in my kit.

Why take an extra spark plug? Maybe watching this video of WudzRydr pre-riding the Bethany will help answer that ;)

(I know a new spark plug won't help a broken engine, but it's easy to water-out bikes on this ride)

For those joining my group - I intend on taking NONE of the bypasses... be warned now :)

It sounds like the beaver pond is tame this year. I'd consider skipping the bypasses. Mud/sand/hills aren't a bother but deep water + long cold ride home might suck.

I'm pretty good with ANY terrain except for the overly deep water. If I can get around the deepest water, I'll be fine.
I still need my bike for everyday commuting.

Haha, me too. Plus I get out on the trails 3+ times per week in the summer, so I don't have pent up madness. I do not approve of early season hydro-lock :)

 Do you live beside the trails? How do you find the time for that much riding? I'd be very lucky to get 3 times/month here in the city.

Looks like a 170km round trip for you to/from Haugens - add that to the 220km course you'll be throwing almost 400km on your CRF250L tomorrow... not bad! What's your buddy riding?

I think he said he had a KLX250. It'll be a long day, for sure.

I will be solo tomorrow will try and find you guys. I have a black GMC canyon and a crf250x

Also, you just ASSUMED I was bringing the CRF250L. What if I was doing Bethany with the Goldwing?! ;)

Quick question do I need a spark arrestor in for this ride.

Technically since part of this ride goes through the Ganaraska Forest, yes, you need a spark arrestor (since any riding in the forest requires one). But since the Ganny isn't officially open yet (the ODSC has special permission for this ride) I really doubt you'll come across any park rangers enforcing this rule.

I'm sure MANY will be in attendance without arrestors.

Heads-up for those who haven't been following the official ODSC thread - apparently Haugen's is no longer open for breakfast; so if you want breakfast before the start of the Bethany better grab some before arriving at Haugen's!

A bunch of us are meeting up in Port Perry (5 minutes from Haugen's staging point) at Hyland Family Restaurant at around 9am for those interested:
