Best sport touring bikes for long distance

Grey option was 2014 and earlier and again 2018 later (replaced in the middle years with white). AFAIK the GT model just comes in the grey. Just a suggestion, you could contact Ginny or someone else at GPBikes and let them know what you're looking for. They have some sources (including owners they know are considering selling/upgrading to new but still debating) that they can call to find the bike you want.
That is super useful to know. Thanks!

they have a 2017 grey multi I was considering but prices are insane with covid + summer
Saw that one too and they are asking $17.5k for it. Nice bike.
It's got very low mileage, but a bit more than I want to spend, unless something happens and I get an extra few $ saved this summer.

im curious to see what happens, dealers got a bunch of new/almost new 1260s laying around, but are priced to almost new...but anyone with that kind of change will likely opt for the latest and greatest v4

I'll bet dollars to donuts if you offer them $17,000OTD with an included Ducati topbox they'd take it.
Personally I'll bet you could find a similar mileage 1260S in the same price range or even a bit less and that would be my pick for a bit more midrange/quickshifter and even if you don't find one in grey a wrap is only a few hundred dollars to change that (mine's 80% wrapped).

Thanks. I've never personally dealt with GP bikes - only because they are pretty far from me, so I appreciate the negotiating info. I'll probably reach out to you in a couple months for your opinions, once I've got the coin saved and am ready to make some offers on whatever is available.

To be fair, I don't care that much about the colour. I could live with the red, or the white, even though my preference is for the grey. And yes, hopefully getting the topbox, crash guards and a centrestand are things that are part of the package.

Oh boy. Another 400 replies when he has the money saved.

Legendary thread.

Looking ahead to my next bike with a slight emphasis on sport. Must be great at long distance and am looking for more punch than my V-Strom 650. I'll keep my current bike for taking my wife on rides, unless my new bike is great at that as well. Maybe a touch of gravel, but no long stretches of it. I ride about 30-40k/year so parts and maintenance shouldn't be too cumbersome.

Ideally 300km fuel range and I'll be buying in the late summer/early fall.

800cc and up only, with upright seating position. Let's say around $15k budget, and don't mind a newer used bike w/ low mileage. Would like a bike with more character than my current bike, but not so much character it spends most of time waiting for parts or in the shop. I want some modern goodies like cruise control, traction control, etc. Must have luggage and good wind protection.

In the order I'm currently leaning towards, I've come up with
Ducati Multistrada
KTM Super Adventure
Yamaha Tracer 900 GT
KTM Superduke GT
Kawasaki Versys 1000
Aprilia Caponord
Yamaha FJR 1300

Any other suggestions or things to think about? Open to whatever as long as it meets my wish list.
Thanks!

Here's some fun for you, its the 325hp Kawasaki ZX15'HT' (hyper touring). You can go to Banff and back the same day!
Cheers,
Cliff
Does that include all the gas stops? That thing must pull like a freight train...

Wonder if at WOT you can watch the gas gauge falling in real time.

GP Bikes are good people. I did my trade in with them remotely a few years back as they are 2h from me. Sorted out a new bike remotely too and told them it was conditional on me sitting on the bike for size (that’s all I needed to know for ergos ). Visited the showroom, did the trade in and the purchase then arranged for them to drop off the new bike with added farkles to me back in Kingston. They gave me a super fair trade in price and decent deals on the new bike and farkles. Everything was painless, my only issue...they are a busy dealership but for good reason.

...it pays to check the used inventory at GP Bikes often buy the way. The bike I traded in sold within a day or so. Their turnover can be very fast.

Thanks! I'm checking every day there and Kijiji, just in case something comes up that I want to jump on right away.

Two Wheel has a huge selection of pre owned. Lots of Kawi Concours 14s.
Jeez, XR1200 with 22k on the clock for $8k? Only Harley I've ever liked, seems like a bargain.

They've had that Caponord for a while, bet they could be knocked down on that, too...

They are very firm with the prices. They know that someone will cough up the extra in this market.
