Best Place For New Computer

Thanks a lot OP... all this talk about upgrading made me finally decide it was time to upgrade my laptop too... now my bank account is going to hurt thanks to you :P

"12 Days of Dell" are back and these are some of the best discounts of the year in my opinion. If anyone's still looking for a system, keep your eyes on this site:

12 Days of Dell Deals

Just be careful of the marketing ploy to attract you to their site, then sucker you into purchasing something more expensive! I was originally going to buy their Inspiron 15R (SWITCH) daily deal ($400 off) but then somehow I ended up checking out with an Alienware laptop :/

Hey no problem! :) I'm really pleased with my Acer so far. Plus I've upgraded to Google Chrome over IE and like that better as well. Now I just have to find a decent router and try going wireless for the first time.

Did you get yourself a second monitor yet? Dell just had a great 24" on sale for $169. This is no longer on sale, but keep your eyes open for similar monitors in their "Professional" series that go on sale occasionally. They come with screens that pivot (landscape mode, or portrait mode) If you do a lot of document processing, portrait mode will allow you to see the entire page of a document on the screen all at once with no scrolling. Pivot seems to be only available on a few brands of monitors but Dell seems to have to have the best selection... here is the url. http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/Monitors_Flat_Panel_Widescreen/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=cadhs1&sku=320-9327&~ck=baynoteSearch&baynote_bnrank=4&baynote_irrank=0

s far as routers go, I have used D Link and Cisco (Linksys) and both seem more than satisfactory. Linksys seems to be the easiest for setup. The Source has a good selection of wireless routers on sale right now ranging in price from about $30 - $100. Second alternative - I just picked up a refurbished Linksys E1000 at Tiger Direct for $20. (gives you a good opportunity for a bike ride to Markham if you can stand riding the 401/404 for a while.

Thanks for the heads-up and advice guys. Haven`t gotten a second monitor yet as I was waiting to see if I`d actually like using a laptop over a PC. I`ll be keeping this so I`ll keep an eye out for a monitor. I don`t do any document processing though.

Toshiba adds 23-inch DX735 to its multitouch all-in-one family

Of all the "TV-like" all-in-one PCs we've seen, this Toshiba is perhaps the most convincing. Something about its glossy black, consumer electronic packaging andOnkyo soundbar just screams (tiny) HDTV. But, behind that 23-inch 1080p, multitouch panel is a Windows 7 PC powered by a Core i5 or i7 and 4GB of RAM. You also get a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, a 1TB hard drive, a DVD drive and a lone USB 3.0 port. There's also an HDMI in jack for use with a game console or cable box -- not bad for the oddly specific starting price of $957. When the DX735 starts shipping exclusively from Best Buy on October 2nd you'll also have the option of adding on a TV tuner for a truly all-in-one entertainment solution. Check out the gallery below, as well as the PR after the break.
