Best grips for a sportbike...

I think he's trying to say 250's aren't real sportbikes.

He must be one of peggy's friends. :lmao:

They aren't and Peggy doesn't have friends other than the ones in his head.

From over the years I've found the oem grips are usually the longest lasting. There's plenty that are more "comfortable" but you'll change them often as you're finding out. I know one person with rizoma grips and he seems to like them so far.

+1 to Rizoma.

I have their Lux grips; feels better than stock imo...looks better too!

I doubt you're paying sportbike insurance.

insurance classified the 125 and 250 as a scooter... i was quoted something like $50 a month back a few years ago when a 600cc was going to cost me $1000.

I pay $1400, granted part of that is because I'm a new rider and don't have a G license.

Ninja 250 and other bikes designed for speed, acceleration, cornering and braking up to 500cc's are classified as a lightweight class Sportbikes for insurance and by the AMA / FIM.

^^^ Not to jack the thread but I think what they were getting at was a 250 has a rating of what? 38 horsepower? My 600 is something like 105 at the rear wheel? There's a tad bit of difference making the 250 way way cheaper to insure. New rider or not.

He's probably right guys.

Statefarm classified mine as a super sport. I am assuming it would be safe to say a sport bike is not a super sport and a super sport is not a super bike (liter bikes).

state farm doesnt care the "class of bike" they only rate on CC. i bet if you went to a company like TD you would be paying next to nothing.

btw...i meant $1000/month for a 600cc SS back when i was 21 or 22 ish.

i now only pay $80 a month on my 600rr

i like the spider grips, ive heard renthal grips are great and same with rizoma

No they don't, but they still classify them. I don't think the classification is universal but it's safe to say that a 250 could be a sport bike but it is definitely not a super sport.

FZR 400 classified as Super Sport even with only 400cc.I use ProGrip 717. They are okay but look good.

the Rizomas look nice. Pretty expensive for grips but they look to be high quality and not 'disposable'...

i imagine i would be paying something like $25 a month on one now with 8 years under my belt.

Lol I wish they really did classify the 125 and 250 as a scooter. That way I wouldn't be paying so damn much.

Look over your paper work carefully. I have a friend with a 250R that was classified as a "SPORT" under the body section (or something) whereas mine says "SUPERSPORT". The classification might not mean jack for the rate you pay, but that's not we're talking about.

If yours does't have, I guess my agent is just better at stroking egos =P [thanks TAFB, I know they banned you though :(]

i never ended up buying a 125 or 250 yeaqrs ago, but i remember getting told i believe it was TD that they considered it a scooter...
maybe thats why i didnt buy it...hmm... LOL

but really... i know guys riding early 2000 cbr600f4i for about $60-70 a month... so whats state farm going to charge for a 250 cc.. their rating system is based off cc not Super Sport, Sport, Sport touring, touring, cruiser, donkey, or scooter/ninja250 (i put those in order of speed and handling :) )
