Barclays Premier League 2011-12 Thread

He's not fit to wear that jersey imo.

Hopefully someone will start running that club how it used to be ran back in the day. Souness understands what a cancer this bloke is to a club.

Until then, they will be playing for sloppy seconds in the Europa cup.

10 match ban, I can't believe some Liverpool fans are saying that's too harsh.

Looks like Luis will be walking alone very soon. Out of Liverpool. Shame.

Sky blue to be the top team in Manchester this season.

Ferguson retires to the shetland islands.

Only a yr off with my predictions.

Suarez is a rat faced, cheating, diving, bullying, racist, violent borderline psychopath. No wonder he's adored by Liverpool fans everywhere.

Been too busy riding to have fun with this statement so I'll a go at it now:

Ah yes, Man U, the bastion of righteousness - http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/dec/22/manchester-united-fans-top-arrest-league . For those Man U fans unable to read anything without lots of pictures, Man U leads the league in fan arrests.

But at least the players are nice people, right? Um, no:

- Ryan Giggs, the Tiger Woods of Football. Man U great.
- Wayne Rooney, shagging strippers while his wife was pregnant. Awesome.
- Patrice Evra, bedded Carla Howe and handed her $200 for her troubles. Honestly though, that's $200 well spent so I'll give him a mulligan
- Rio Ferdinand, has a 13 year affair while married. Also, tweets a rascist message to Ashley Cole. Stay classy

I watched the biting and just face palmed myself. I know these kinds of guys where their will to compete swamps any common sense (ever watch hockey?). I think, given he's done it before, he got off lightly. Far from an apologist, it really doesn't matter to me if he stays or goes. However, by all accounts, he's a good guy off the field. I'm mean, it's not like he's a sexual deviant, or paid strippers for sex, or Kung Fu kicked a fan.

On another subject, I know LFC fans should hate Sir Alex. I do not. I wish we had a manager other fans can hate for the same reasons. David Moyes is a bit of a surprise but he's done extremely well given the modest amount of money he has to work with. Unfortunately for other teams, Man U probably won't miss a beat.

Well said. So what bike is being referenced in your sig?

Macs, the bike was a gtam poster's Suzuki TL I believe. My Ducati 900 had a certain presence that sounded like the four horsemen of the apocalypse. My new BMW Sertao was sewing machine quiet till it got a new Leo Vince pipe, now it's just as loud as any twin piped literbike.

Jayv, I was just making the point that one shouldn't thow stones in glass houses. I was going to reference articles from more recent parades where Man U supporters were arrested for shouting rascist chants.

One thing to make clear, a teams fanbase shouldn't be judged by the acts of a few fools. IMO, supporters of all clubs have the same proportion of good fans vs bad. For me personally, I support LFC but it's just a team of millionaires playing a kids game so I don't take it too seriously. Others are like 4 year old children suckling at the teat of their mothers breasts and can see no wrong with their "mommy" while doing whatever they can to antigonize others. It's pretty easy to tell the difference between the two types in this thread.

Look, if you want to start going into player history then I will happily list the dole, cheating, wife beating, car theiving, coke sniffing, gangster associated, jail time serving Liverpool players from the past and present. Suarez is what I said. Show me one player at any other club in modern football who attracts such bad press. He dives and cheats, everyone in world football knows that. He's been found guilty of racially abusing a fellow footballer, despite LFC staunchly defending him. And he has twice been found guilty of biting a fellow footballer. He is indefensible. And your feeble attempt at deflection is just that; feeble. Remember, when Cantona did his kung fu kick (he was responding to racial abuse) Manchester United banned him for 6 months (I think) before even the FA had got involved. The club didn't rally round him, try to defend him, print and wear T shirts supporting him like a bunch of idiots. They punished him severely.

As to the other stuff, I don't need a history lesson from you about United player behaviour. I know of way more incidents that you've listed and way more dirt than you could imagine from both ends of the East Lancs Road. Remember I lived in Manchetser for 40 years. I drank in the same bars as a lot of players. And I know a few journalists who have worked the Manchester United beat for many years. And this isn't me showing off, I'm simply illustrating I know a lot more than the average armchair fan. And, based on what I learned many years ago, I agree, I dislike Ryan Giggs and dislike the paragon of virtue he's portrayed as. But Liverpool, and most other football clubs, have their equal.

And the line about Manchester United fans having the worst arrest record? I will always wear that as a badge of honour. As a former member of the Red Army, rolling into another city and seeing people flee in horror from us always bought a smile to my face. And we didn't need to slash people with Stanley knives to do it either.

Not defending Suarez, I took a bit of a shat kicking on the LFC forum for saying that I wouldn't cry if he was made to "walk alone". I thought the way Kenny handled the 8 game suspension was embarrassing.

Loved your line above, I'd buy you a beer (or ten) to hear some of those stories.

Now Vera was a Yorkshire bird and an evil cow to boot. Got turfed from her pub for singing anti Leeds songs. And on a Saturday as well. Sacrilege.

Jack was a bit better and a decent club singer. Never saw him peform but would have loved to spend time in his company.

I stayed away from Bet. She would have eaten me for breakfast if I'd got too close.

Anyway, enough time in the snug. Lets take a wander onto Merseydive.
