Bar muffs

With winter approaching and hours of research with mixed reviews as always, I'm looking for recommendations on bar muffs to extend my leasure riding time. I see some Chinese branded stuff on amazon and Walmart, as well as the higher prices known brands. Riding a cb500x with hand guards, so it's gotta fit over that with a mirror hole (preferably no manual cutting required)

From amazon, kenimoto caught my eye, priced at $40-60. Givi $70+ and Walmart ones around $35-50

I have heated grips, not too sure how well that'll be at -15+ but thought I'd ask now for recommendations. Thanks!

I bought cheap ones from AliExpress for like 10 bucks just to try them out. There are tons.

They do keep your hands warm and you need to make sure wind doesn't push them in to levers. So it helps to have Handguards over or, the frame inside. Bonus warmth if you have heated grips.

Having said that, the opening was too small for gloves with knuckle armor. These were probably designed for scooters and bicycles though.

If you get a set, get something like the Hippo Hands. Also keep in mind if you get ejected from your bike, your wrists get trapped, I heard from a rider who broke both their wrists and went through months of rehab, now never uses them.

Get a good set of hand guards like Barkbusters or the SW Motech Cobras, not only will you get crash protection, levers will be protected, and good wind protection if you get the Barkbuster Storms. Added with heated grips and good gloves, your set.

Forget the knock-off el chepo stuff for the hand guards, the aluminum isn't heat treated and lots of cases of them just shattering, the bolts are swiss cheese and just break off

I just got some snowmobile ones from Canadian Tire.
I did have to install lever guards to keep the muffs from pushing the brake and clutch when the wind pushed them. Wouldn't be an issue with a full fairing bike

I used to make these for trappers and linemen that worked in the far north, always used real fur.

They are warm, and you don't need winter riding gloves -- the ones above are made from beaver which I find my hands like the best.

So your saying, you like to have your arms elbow deep in beaver for warmth?

lol thats hilarious, I was just about to say Beaver pelts

Yup - feels way better than polyester or nylon. In fact I usually take off my riding gloves before going in.

Never tried, but I hear it makes a great jock strap.

I still make a few each year, for some old friends that skidoo traplines. Beaver is ideal because it stands up to the weather and the skin is thicker than other pelts (except for bear and buffalo, those are to bulky and both stink when wet).

I've made a few furkinis in my time, maybe I'll send her one. My manufacturing process is carbon neutral - she might appreciate that!

(note: I have only used re-purposed skins and roadkill for the last few years).

I've done furkinis, never done a jock strap. If you want one, I have a bit of porcupine hide on hand.

If you wear latex surgical gloves you can prevent any cross contamination.
The skins don't come from male beavers.

shopping

Oxford Muffs....sure work tho need something to keep them off your hands at speed.

Yuck, I can smell a porcupine 30 feet away. Beaver I like (y) best mitts I ever owned, they were ancient so they wore out after 2 snowmobiles. I think they were my grandfathers.
dam big rat with flat tail that can destroy trees land and clean water like crazy if you are not careful.
Porcupines eat everything starting with rubber if they can find it. Need to be careful of those too.
Both are super easy to live trap fwiw
