Balls banned from school

Hey Firestart & Redliner,

Would you say that it was a better system overall vs. Democracy (and the capitalism that tends to go hand-in-hand with it)?

Socialism is possible with democracy, but it's hard to maintain because as soon as someone gets enough money to buy enough airtime, they pre-buy politicians and work on getting them in office. It's even easier in countries that have the party system as you can just buy politicians on a wholesale level. Just look at what happened south of the border. Now they are quite open about equating corporate interests with national interests. It took over a century of constant pressure to bring it to this point.

A functional socialist system can operate better than a capitalist "democracy" but, like in any political system, you still have to establish safeguards against corruption and hope you don't get invaded/blockaded by the US in case your political system isn't to the liking of their corporate establishment. Or they can just buy the elections for their favored clique. They've done it often enough in the past. Of course, that depends on your definition of "better"... You have a much larger middle class, no working poor and very few poor, but it's kinda hard for a person to own private jets, ocean-going yachts and private islands, so it's not that good for 0.1% of the population.

In the late days of the Cold War when the socialists already had a firm grip on power and they rebuilt the country, life was pretty good. You were guaranteed a job, health/dental/optical/day care, pension, roof over your head and a full stomach. With that being said, Canada was pretty much there, just more privatized and then we let things slide over the last 3 decades. Some of it can be blamed on foreign market forces, but we have plenty to work with locally, just lack the political will to do it.

Safety first!

Maybe kids should be wearing ATGATT.

Parents are crazy these days.

Did you know that kids have indoor recess when it spitting outside?? Ridiculous. I remember we used to love recess in the rain.

I also grew up in Ottawa and they NEVER cancelled school. Once my father had to shovel the driveway three times in one night just so we wouldn't get buried in...yet school was never cancelled.

There are now instances where parents have asked to come to their kids first interview.

Kids are way too sheltered.

with the separation of church and state being indoctrinated into a religion has no place in our public schools. Freedom of religion includes freedom from religion.

Religion is offensive to me and if I had kids I would not want them exposed to that crap. So what about it? Keep god outta the public system. You want it so bad PAY to go to a religious school. No freedom of religion around me.
I remember I would get in so much trouble in grade school for not saying the lords prayer with the rest of the class. Ill NEVER forget or forgive them for that.

In other words, right on!
