Aussie on his way to the GTA

Hey hey all!

Just thought I'd pop in, say hi and start making a new network of mates in the GTA. My fiancée and I are making the big move to Canada early next year on a 2 year working holiday visa, with the intention of working towards permanent residency in Canada. We're both born an bred Aussies but have decided that, along with a new life as a married couple we'd like to get out of Australia and settle in Canada. The intention was going to be in the US but that's a nightmare, and I thought, hey, what about Canada, the people are nicer, the country is a hell of a lot nicer we're close to the US for concerts, NHL, NFL, the camping and outdoors are leaps and bounds better than anything we have here. I'm a pilot by trade and a few mates who have gone to the land of the maple leaf have said the flying and countryside is just incredible.

I'm an avid motorbike fan here and buying a bike is going to be first on my hit list when we get there and with any luck by the time I get there i'll have some internet friends that I can meet up with and go on some rides, see the country and not feel like a total loner in a new country.

So, HI!!! :p

Welcome Mate! Soon we will see you here & yes will have to go on rides and have some great Canadian beers!

Cheers!

G'day, and welcome to the forum!

I'd trade u for my place

Sent from my tablet using my paws

Lol I was trying to do just the opposite...you Aussies don't like handing out Visas :p

Welcome to GTAM

Welcome aboard.. I hope you like shoveling :D

Hi all thanks for the warm welcome.

@Kargo: Fixed wing mate, I wanted to go rotary but the industry is a tight nut to crack at the moment and the rotary guys are having an even harder time trying to find work.

@Rockerguy & Macs: You guys struggling to find Visas? Figures. We hand out visas to illegal immigrants left right and centre, but if your trying to get into the country legitimately and would be a benefit to the country don't expect any help. Part of the reason for wanting to leave.

@Firestart: I guess i'm going to have to get used to that huh

So you're sayin' if I show up on a boat with rags and dehydrated, I'll be welcomed in open arms???

G'day mate....the grass ain't always greener on the other side....but you didn't make that bad a mistake comin to the Great White North. Same issues here...we have liberals too.

One thing spacing me out about Canada is the cost of living, its soooooo cheap! I live in a 3 bedroom duplex and pay 500 a week for it. 2 grand a month, then there's power which just went up 30% this year which is driving fuel up to the $2 a litre mark and everything else as companies try to recoup the extra power costs. Don't get me wrong, I know the average wage is going to be less, but damn.

Also going to make the jump from Cruisers to Sports Bikes.

Welcome to the forum. Canada is alot like sex in prison.

The sex you want, you can't get

The sex you get, you don't want

Do your research before coming here. Southern Ontario is a over populated, tax grabbing area....

But if you must come here, I woudl love to meet you as well !!! :agave:
