As usual Apple sucks

I didn't want to associate a credit card with my iTunes account either, so I thought I'd use iTunes gift cards instead. Got a few last Christmas, only to realize that you can't use them for app purchases in Canada... I ended up giving them away, since apps are the only thing I buy out of the app store or iTunes
 
Got into a conversation at work about this today and the guys thought you needed a credit card for sure... I found that very same link mentioned above. If you do it right from the device it seems quite easy.

Don't see anyone defending apple, i do see some people telling oily how to fix his issue... is that defending apple? just because you're a fanboi of a dead (before it was even released) platform and most people bought the hardware to run android on it...

I'm no Apple fan by no means, but I do have to say their customer service is the opposite, incredible. My experiences with Genius or w/e they're called has been extremely satisfactory. That includes very helpful and knowledgeable support staff, getting a motherboard replaced twice and a free mag-power adapter even though the laptop was out of warranty. Oh, and I think free ipod headphones too somewhere in there.

I think I see the pick you're in though, I'm guessing you're afraid your daughter will download non-free apps/music if you put your CC on the account?

as mentioned above there is an easy way to register with out a cc or itunes gift card

I cashed in some air miles for an iTunes gift card and it worked fine for buying apps (i wanted the full versions of angry birds). Still haven't given a cc card.
 
I love my ipod, I've never used the itunes store or my credit card to get music. I download free music or cd's and upload them into my itunes. You don't need the store.

I believe the OP is talking about Apps, which you cant do outside of the App store and having an apple ID, outside jail breaking of course.

Apps for the Ipod? huh, stupid me. I only use my ipod for music and videos. I thought only iphones or ipod touches really use apps.
 
I don't know when the no credit card option was implemented but I sure didn't see that option when I created my iTunes account earlier this year. If it's a new thing then that might explain why so many people seem to think that a cc is necessary for an account.

iPod touches use apps, the iPod original not so much, same with the shuffle and nano.

When did you do that? I tried about a year ago and everything I found at the time said it couldn't be done (in Canada; works fine everywhere else). It would be nice if they've changed it

Exactly. I never understand the people complaining about things, rather than leaving or switching. You don't like Apple rules just switch. It's easy painless, right?

I believe it's easier to insult the dead, slander people who use and enjoy the platform, and voice your hatred on a forum. Or, at least, it seems that way.
 
Kinda reminds me of the extra charge I just got from FedEx for not having an account with them. Apparently if they need to collect money from you and you don't have an account they charge you an extra $10 (plus HST) for accepting it at the door. I thought it was bad enough that I had to have exact change for the taxes.

Yes, only iPhones and the iPod Touch use apps. Its pretty obvious from the OP question that its an iPod Touch.
