Arai vs Shoei

From what I've read & researched;

Shoei makes only one "shape" to their helmets, which is intermediate round (and most companies do this), whereas Arai actually has different models to suit different head shapes. Shark is another company that makes helmets to suit more than one head shape.

I got a Shoei RF1100... mostly cuz I loved how it looked, and the features were great, BUT my damn head is still too narrow. Next will likely be an Arai Signet Q, cuz it has a "long oval" shape.

If Shark were still here, I'd look at them, too.

Look for the Shark then, because they are supposed to be back. Not sure where though but I know they are in the states again.

Interesting. 5 pages of great content and started by a troll. Who knew they came in handy sometimes?

That's the only factual data that matters.

On a serious note though the Arai shield removal system sucks. Google will show you that THOUSANDS of people feel the same way and I don't remember ever getting a questionaire from JD Power. They must have missed all the other people with problems as well. I've worked in automotive where JD Power gives awards to vehicles which hit the market the same day, so those awards are pure bunk.

Seriously though, I like Shoei, Shark, and Scorpion for the quality and fit on my noggin. I loved an Arai Quantum 2 for it's fit, but the shield system prevents me from ever buying another one.
Icon helmets are too heavy.

The Shoei GRV was a great helmet, as was a Marushin from the same era, the Shoei RF800 with Picotte orange jester graphics I only recently retired. I just picked up a new Scorpion EXO1100 I like quite a bit and my back up helmet is the Shark RSR2.

Simpson helmets were never that good, way too much wind noise for motorcycle use.

That's a great site to see how your helmet holds up. I didn't know shark helmets were 4 star.
Anyone know of another site that will test wind noise?

is therre such a helmet.

SO I tried on an Arai last night in XS ..... o m g... made me realize my helmet sucks :(

Once you go Shoei/Arai everything else just kinda sucks in terms of fitment and comfortability <(I don't think it's a word)

Shark is now distributed through Yamaha dealers. GP Bikes also has them.

Neither is "fitment", at least not in the context in which it's so often used on GTAM. What's wrong with "fit"?
