Mayor Ford made a geographical flub while greeting people in Chicago during a business mission this week, when he said Winnipeg was across the river from Detroit.

The mayor chatted with a young couple in front of the Cloud Gate sculpture, also known as the bean, at Millennium Park on Tuesday. A woman told Ford she’d visited Canada — “the part where you cross from Detroit, over the river.”

“Oh, Manitoba? You were in Manitoba. Winnipeg?” Ford said.

He corrected himself and asked her if it was Windsor she had visited.

“Windsor? … That’s Ontario … It’s about four hours away — Windsor and Toronto.”

Meh..I think he's a bit of a buffoon personally..but they're kinda making a mountain out of a molehill..it just makes the press look ridiculous..like, is there nothing they can report on of any note?? Yeesh..it's the equivalent of Captain Interweb Grammar...
 
He's just another ignorant Torontonian that is unaware there is over a million square km of Ontario outside of the GTA.

Windsor and Chicago may as well be on the moon as far as he's concerned.

Guess I grew up just outside of Winnipeg now. Weird never had that much snow like everyone always says.
 
ooooh reeeelaaaax, in his mind he messed up Winnipeg and Windsor....he obviously corrected himself when he realized it was a brain fart....not like he was sitting there arguing that hes right...as soon as he realized he said the wrong city he corrected himself. ****ing hypocrites all of you if you NEVER meant to say one thing and something else came out...the difference is that you dont have reporters ready to jump down your throat... Liberal city run by a conservative Mayor...gee i wonder why no other Mayors were getting this kind of coverage.....grow up, report the REAL news.

and no that isn't sarcasm, he's a big fat, awesome, union crushing, spending cutting, champ of a major.
 
Dude says it the way it is, doesn't pander to everyone and try to please ppl by kissing babies.....he doesnt give a ****...his job is to run the city, and in this political and financial atmosphere, thats rarity and i think hes doing a good job. You know how all politicians always strike you as slime bags that u want to wash your hands after you shook theirs....he doesnt come across as that.

Rob Ford is the first Mayor with a bit of integrity, every other guy has been an outright liar.
I hope he manages to replace the 100 year old street car system and implement the hybrid buses.

The people that complain about him are the same naive sheep who vote for the crooked politicians that screw us every year.

I just think it's funny that all politicians feel compelled to do this for photo ops. I mean, even if it was a politician I endorsed, I wouldn't want them touching my baby. It's kinda creepy.

Of course I didn't vote for him. He's an idiot. He was my councillor before becoming mayor. And I went to high school with him. He's a good guy and was a pretty good councillor..he just doesn't have what it takes to be mayor. And yes, that statement does apply to the majority of voters in the GTA. And we already have hybrid buses. Streetcars are zero emissions vehicles. There's a trade-off.

Meanwhile, he's illegally voted to keep money he was not allowed to use, he's using city property and funds to coach his football team..he has integrity? Really??
 
He mixed up small facts while probably in a busy day.... who cares. It's not like you haven't done it today. What are you expecting him to be a computer and retrieve facts with accuracy? Oh wait computers make errors too.

Where does our electricity come from again? How much money does the city waste on repairing the roads and tracks every year? How much congestion is created due to two lanes being blocked by these things?

I love the fact that he's true to himself and not bent to what others have to say or think about him.
I'm not sayin he's perfect, but he's trying.
I remember they put crap up about his niece saying something. What does that have to do with him?
Didn't David Miller skip an important conference because it was his daughter's b-day?
