Anyone here a cyclist?

I find spent a little on quality . You will enjoy the bike much more . When you are ready to move on .

What do you thing of the these two bikes ?

Rockhopper | Specialized.com

They are in my price range .
The specialized site is low on specs (or I am not seeing them) but historically the Rockhopper model has been a good MTB entry point IMO. The Rocky Mountain site has specs and it is an entry level drivetrain, mostly Altus I saw on the site, sort of one step above Tourney... RM has historically been a good brand IMO, last I looked they were still Canadian owned (Procycle), no idea where they are made. One vs the other, don't know the specs on the specialized so I cannot say. I can't imagine being unhappy with either as long as you don't ask them to do way more than they were intended for....

I agree with GreyGhost on availability during COVID, homework wise it may come down to comparing what you can find vs finding what you compared...

You need to decide if you are riding off-road trail or paved trails and roads. Don't rule out a hybrid if the dirt is not going to happen, I think most people would be much happier in this situation.

Are the Northrock from Costco any good ? Hybrid or MTB ?

Not looking for anything for serious . Maybe some lite trails . Bigger frame for more comfortable ride .

Probably going to pass on my Rocky Mountain Oxygen Race to my daughter .

I picked up a Northrock FB XC00 and the frame and fork appear solid. The components are ok. I upgraded the crank and tires for winter riding and I’m still riding it over my Cannondale mtb. It just fits me well.

Some of the specs makes it a challenge to “upgrade” some things but, overall it’s better than a Canadian Tire or Walmart bike and many indie shops have limited inventory of respectable brands.

Good luck with your search. Just wanted to share my experience with the actual brand. Sorry it’s not he same style of bike.

I'm looking for mostly street . Maybe some light dirt trails . I put myself on a waiting list at a couple of places . Due to lockdowns stores are not getting their stuff deliveries . But they hope to get some mid May.

Specialized. I wouldn't **** on Mike Sinyard if he was on fire.

You can retain the 130 spacing. 2-3mm longer axle spacers on the drive side and 2-3mm shorter on the non drive side. You’re basically shifting the hub body over. You end up with the correct (or better than before) chainline as well doing that.
Here is a pic from a better angle and without the chain in the smallest cog. My toes are in the pic for scale....

I've given up for this year, gonna rehab an old cannondale I have. I've been on a wait list for about 4 months, was supposed to come in this week....

And by May, we mean September.

Some spring inspiration.... BTW handles great on the trails and even though it is still a bit wet out the Terreno Zeros only spun a few times on wet steep climbs.

Just some Facebook Marketplace sad face items.

Guy up Uxbridge ways had a Bianchi SL Lite Reparto Corse (in Celeste of course) with Campy Record 2X10 for $175, I sent him a note saying it was way too low, did not respond back and it was sold right away. All the parts are now on marketplace by a guy in the city, bought it and is parting it out $$$$s.

I have been seeing a bunch of Diant bikes (Giant like font with the D looking sort of like a backwards G). Total junk heaps....I hope people don't get suckered in or maybe the sellers were the original suckers....

:(

I am looking for some wide 700c wheels to put my big tires on. They also have to have rim brake. The right choice would be the hunt 4 season, but I can get some really cheap single wall alex x101 wheels with Acera FH-T3000 hubs. 19.7 internal width. Being single wall they would be fairly light. I don't want to spend too much on such a wheelset knowing I will probably bash them on rocks. How terrible can they be?

I can't comment on those specific wheelsets. Keep in mind that 29er wheels may work for you and be more plentiful than ones marketed as wide 700c wheels.

Nevermind I have bigger issues. RIP this bike hauled two saddle bags full of tools for work, rode it like like a BMX in town and beat on it like a MTB on gravel and worse. The timing really sucks though.

I'm right now between two bikes .

I have a Rocky Mountain right now . But it is set up for off road . It is also a bit small for me ( Medium frame ).
I went out for some trail riding and a few jumps . It just didn't do it for my age . I like the idea of a bigger tires for the road . I might do some tail ridding without jumps and such .

I am looking to buy a single speed from xfixxi so i can ride along with the kids.

Live outside toronto proper so not needing it for commuting as much as leisure.

Looks like it is a moot point based on frame damage?

I was considering that same combo if I need to replace the rims on the Project 3, hard to beat the price. I figure check and adjust spoke tension and bearing pre-load before mounting, high spoke count I expect them to be more than good enough, not great but good... 90s MTB single wall were common and only a very few people died a fiery death. They are a little on the heavy side.

Another on the cheap option for a beater is if you find wheels from a cheap hybrid like a Schwinn Hydra that are not trashed, 700c, 36 spoke three-cross, pretty wide no-name single wall rim brake, stainless non-butted spokes.... again adjust bearings and spoke tension and set them up correctly.... many hate Quando hubs, I can actually get them to run very smooth. Will not be modern light but not totally crazy for the purpose.

Does suck that most "gravel" wheels are disc brake only.
