Anyone have any experience riding the Yamaha fz-09?

I will chime in as I am considering buying one but then the XSR just came out and i am more then likely grabbing that.. yes more money but for what you get is well worth it..plus the retro styling is oh so sexy!

I'm not in the market to buy anything but I am also tempted to get this one. It's all that.

Also consider the xsr900... Same engine but retro styling.... TC and ABS standard

Well the deed is done! Just signed the paperwork on a brand new 2014 Orange Fz-09! After 2-3 season off the road, I am beyond excited to get back on two wheels. Thnx for all the comments.

I'm back baby! (Only this time with a much less relevant username)

Congrats, I picked up a new 2015 about a month ago. Done about 1000kms and really like the bike. Stiffened the suspension as per sport rider and it makes a big difference.. I don't notice the seat on my 130km commute, maybe for longer rides it will be an issue.

You lost some padding at the bottom so you might notice now lol

Do you mind if I ask how much OTD was?

And congrats, I have spent a lot of time modding and researching parts for this bike, if you have any questions ask away

Rode SS bikes my whole life but as I got older aches and pains set in,bought a new 15 FZ09 last year and I absolutely love this bike!
Out of the 20 or so bikes i've owned this one falls in the top 3,it dose everything I need it too and more.
ZX600 nailed all the pros and cons dead on,rear suspension mod is very simple and cheap to do,stock exhaust sounds sweet,im on the fence over an aftermarket unit.Got a great deal at Newmarket Yamaha.

Getting this bike was an adventure. First a used bike that looked mint, basically made the deal, and then had the seller break down to me the next day and admit that the bike was dropped and he lied to me about it. Then I went to Ready Honda Powersports in Mississauga and after leading me on with low offers, Had me come back the next day and give me a final offer of $8,500 + tax for a DEMO 2014, which the salesman conveniently forgot to mention was a demo after I asked him twice.

Then I went to Brampton Powersports on Van Kirk Dr. They had the Orange 2014 that I was looking for. I paid $7,699 + tax. So $8,699 out the door. I dunno, I think it was a decent deal. But more importantly Enrique was a pleasure to deal with!

Let the modding begin! (I really can't understand why there aren't more options for Canadian motorcycle websites)

Lol I almost got your bike at the Brampton dealer a year ago but I wanted grey.

You will enjoy this thing.

Take it easy at the beginning though, I own a race liter bike and this thing has as much torque at the bottom as my GSXR1000.

I like the Grey. The more I think about it, the more unhappy I am with my choice of Orange. Oh well, it'll grow on me

PS I PM'd you ZX600

ZX600: What year was the zx6r rear shock you used and what type of front springs did you upgrade to?

Don't be unhappy, the orange looks fantastic! More importantly, all the colours have that sweet triple.

I got that done not long ago, there is a Technical bulletin about it - I have a copy you can bring to the dealer if you wish.

But if this has happened in the last couple of months then what a pile of crap

I wouldn't pay for that, I much rather spend 200 and get it flashed like I did last week.
Starts in A
Eliminate the O2 sensor
Map changes for A, std and B modes
Lower starting temperature for the fan
Eliminate the pops from the aftermarket slipon
Enable the QS function
Reduced engine brake

and a few more things

I was dissappointed too, but it's not something I can control.

05/06 636 rear shock, the 05/06 zx6RR is a better fit but it is impossible to find one - I got 0.95 for the front, stock comes with 0.75.

The orange is a great colour!

Congrats OP

Here's to hoping some SS fanboy buys an XSR900 and in less than a year decides to sell it and return to SS bikes... SELL IT TO MEEEEEEEEEEEE

After 5 years on a naked SV, I'm fairly certain the XSR900 will be my 2nd and last bike LOL

That is an awesome bike, all the good stuff from the FZ09 with some of the major downfalls fixed but of course with a high price tag.

Not a fan of the oval light but it is a beautiful bike.

By the way OP, I used to have a 2008 zx6r which is the same as your bike, the zx is a baby's toy compared to this bike :)
