Anyone else out still riding on the nice days?

Been riding since a few days last week, rode in to work today, will ride in tomorrow in the balmy 10c if it's not raining in the morning.

This is the first Feb ever I've been riding. I changed the oils and spring maintenance on both bikes in the last few days, so they are ready to run, no winterizing this year for me.

Both beasts are ready to run.

I drove around a little this morning in the van after a car wash.
It's now covered in a fine layer of salt dust again.

I guess the benefit to those who ride in the salt, is that loctite probably won't be needed.
I hope this ACF-50 stuff works.

Hmm...

I’m really tempted to go riding tomorrow afternoon. They’re predicting sunny skies and a high of 13
°C! It’s also going to rain overnight and tomorrow morning, so that’ll wash away most or hopefully all of the road salt.

Yes. But water. Got a wee case of the flu. Need to hydrate.

Supposed to rain through the morning, drizzle into the afternoon and be very windy (35 Gust 60) through much of the day.

Warm or not, I think I'll be opting to go to work. If things settle in the evening and the roads have dried up I might contemplate a quick run after work.

I guess if your license plate is covered in salt grime they might have trouble reading it, and you might have an excuse if stopped.

Idk, unless you're gonna take much of the bike apart and clean it pieced by piece.
I don't think simple maintenance is gonna do much to get rid of the salt, and once it gets warm and mixes with water into a brine bath . . .

Cars spend all winter in the stuff and are built of mostly the same materials as bikes.

I've spent my fair share of time wrenching on cars that have seen many, many winters. Hell, my pickup truck is a 1997 and has seen nearly 20 of them. With few exceptions bolts still turn, nuts still loosen, parts come off and go on. Yes, after enough winters the bodies start to show the effects of course, but when compared to going out on a day like Sunday and an almost inconsequential bit of salt getting somewhere on a bike, and perhaps once or twice a winter... well...personally, I'm not going to make my bike a garage queen based on that.

I can imagine (and respect) that others feel differently, but in the grand scheme of things...for me, I don't care. I rode Sunday.

My bike is worth, like, a Big Mac combo and a fudge sundae. I might take mine out tomorrow as well. I'm not worried about the salt. If I ever get my scoot running, she'll be the winter ride, though.

Contemplating going for a run today... Awesome!!! Hopefully it dries up sufficiently...
