Great to know, it looks like we have a really good deal here. I forgot to mention the voice over music capability, it was quite a pleasant surprise.

The only thing that would make it better is if it was stereo and worked with a cell phone. However, that's honestly too much to expect for $9 and can probably be at least partially achieved with some time/effort.

your right, it would be better if it was stereo, however i make mine work via cell phone :p i have a bluetooth headset in the shape of a dog tag that has 3.5mm audio out jack, so i BT connect my phone to the dog tag to answer calls and play music, 3.5mm audio out for music and listening to people during calls straight into the intercomm and the dogtag headset has a mic built in for calls :) its electronic bliss, however i could do without the 2 wires going to the helmets :p heres a pic for reference.

oh and i have a nifty little cell phone holder on my handlebars next to my trail tech vapor along with a mini USB cable to charge both my cell phone wile riding (GPS) and the BT headset connected to the intercom:D

Lots of touring on a cbr1100xx, BMW k1200s and a Triumph Sprint St and with enough advil all good!

Nice collection. How are they? How do they compare? Maintenance schedules, comfort, etc? I'm curious about what to look at next. :)

I recently upgraded from a gen5 VFR800 to a CBR1100xx. I'm finding the xx to be a bit less comfortable, but the throttle response is astounding. :)

Hey Sadrik here are my quick cole notes:

Sprint St: fantastic bike, great gas mileage (55-58 mpg on a trip), great engne with lot's of torque at any revs, comfortable with lot's of breaks, bags decent size for touring, miss that bike more than any I have owned

BMW K1200S: amazing power, like driving a rocket!, had every option on it, computerized up the ying yang however I really only misss the tire pressure read out and the electronic suspension capability on the fly. Got sick of $200 oil changs, maintance schedule that cost a fortune every time as well as the herky jerky on-off throttle response. As for touring the little expandable bags don't cut it.

Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird: Like you say throttle response is crazy, great bike if you want to meet a cop or two! Very aggresive seatng response....glad I have throtlemeister so I can shake out the feeling in my right hand as well. Came with a set of Givi luggage which gives me lot's more litres of space for tours. Maintenance, realiability and finish on Hondas cant be beat

Also spent time riding VFRs and a great bike however revs need to be hiher to get the same response as the bigger bikes......any bike is better than none!!!

What year of ST did you have? Between the XX and the ST, which would you prefer?

I wish the XX had better fuel economy. Granted, I love playing with the torque to the exception of economy, but still. Without the PCIII, the economy is horrible (about 9-10L/100KM); with the PCIII, its economy is way better (7-8L/100KM).

What saddlebags are those? They look great and seem to be made of a harder material to hold their shape.
 
They look like bags connection saddlebags. A vicious cycle over in waterloo sells them. Will probably run you just over 300$ new
 
OK guys, I'm going to start off by saying that I am a complete techno-noob.

Here's my "want"... I want to be able to connect to my Blackberry and listen to MP3's on it as well (my ear buds just don't cut it). I also want to communicate with my wife on the back. Is there one wireless unit that can do all that?
What do I need? I have [some] cash, but need some help.

Take a look at the Sena Intercom units. They will connect through bluetooth to your blackberry and you can have upto 4 of the units talking together. There are also choices with them to either use in helmet speakers or earbuds

+1 on Sena

Great quality sound from the BB & ipod but awful sound quality off the Garmin. I doubt I'll ever get the xm radio as a result. $100 less than Scala.

There's also the new Scala Rider G9, but being new, it is hard to get it 'for a deal.'

For my bike, I used a Garmin Zumo 550 and 660 as a bluetooth gateway between my Blackberry and my Scala helmet headset. The headset was great for phone calls, and handy for music or audio books. However, I would also run wired earbuds for mp3 music from my Zumo for much better audio quality and the ear damping qualities of the earbuds. The Zumo 550 was great enough to send music over the earbuds (if they were plugged in) but using the headset for phone conversations.
 
Sadrik; I think I might go for this type of set-up. I wish I never sold my Zumo 550. Looks like I will have to bend over and purchase a new Zumo.

I have a Sena, and there is an optional 'base plate' that mates to your helmet that allows you to use any earphones / ear plugs / speakers you want...

Yeah, I've seen that. However, I am not a fan of music over bluetooth/A2DP. I've tried it a bunch of times and I just haven't found the transmit/receive quality to be acceptable and then there's the matter of the battery life. That said, that is a nice feature.

I'm just jazzed that you can easily replace the boom mike with a full-face-helmet-friendly corded mike on the G9's helmet base. In fact (though I need to see it to believe it), they say it ships with both the boom mike and corded mike by default.
