Anybody looking forward to the ski/snowboard season?

I might try and get out with my Eldest this week. Closest hill is about 20 minutes away in good weather.

I've done lessons and raced snowboards all through highschool. I don't have any desire to take any more lessons, was just posting up an update on the conditions. Since I have a seasons pass and live locally I don't feel the need to spend all day out there if it's not ideal or I'm not having much fun. People were crashing left right and center, figured I'd end the day in one piece and go back another day.

Just to add, I'm not saying I'm super awesome and can't be taught anything, I know there is more to learn and I can always improve and I know there are people better than me out there.

Well said!

I have no desire to drive a few hours each way to board on ice and freezing cold.
I admit, I have not gotten out yet but if I am going to spend the money and time for a few hours of fun then I want those few hours to be desirable to me.

It's like riding a bike with low tire pressure and firing on 2 cylinders (instead of 4).
Yes, it gets you around but is it fun.

Amazon is lucky, she lives close by so she has the luxury to pick and chose when to go and enjoy the 1 or 2 hours if the conditions are favorable.

FAK YEAH! Finally some goddamn fakkin snow.

Not really, I am on some tropical Island in the Caribbean

Even they are having a tough winter with only 41 of 106 runs open. Still a couple of good days on the slopes.

We got two feet of snow here, yesterday. There's gotta be some more runs open. :D

blue mountain was great today and uesterday.

definitely gonna get a pass here instead of Mt St Louis next year.

the blue squares here are like black diamonds at Mt St louis.

Just came back from Blue. Weather and conditions were good. No more exposed dirt, at least not on the the trails I was on. Spent most of my day at the village and south end. This was going to be my last trip for the season (used up the Double Down) but if conditions are still good a week or two from now I'll be back.

Btw boots, we've got the same colour snow pants.

Beautiful! I'm jealous. Have an awesome time

It's absolutely incredible. Everyday is a powder day in my books. Sure I might hit some crust once in a while, but it's still great overall. I wish I could capture the stuff I been skiing. For one a lot of people just say no phones because they can interfere with beacons, and a picture would not do these lines justice. I been very fortunate to tag along with some gnarly and very knowledgeable people.

This describes the area that I been in http://backcountryskiingcanada.com/kootenay_pass

I am ending my trip with the wapta traverse. Good way to end the winter ski season :)

One of these days I must experience that. For the moment, I'm stuck with local resorts. We got a bunch of snow dumped on us last night so I'm seriously considering calling in sick to work tomorrow ;)
