For what it's worth, I did not need a referral to see a doctor at the Athlete's care clinic. Hope that helps to know.
Find out who's on staff at the clinic you want to go to by checking their web site. Then booking an appointment with the non-surgeon should be quick. Once you see that 1st Doc., he can refer you his surgeon buddy that you wanted to see in the first place.
Most specialist/surgeons only see new patients if you have already been diagnosed. Since you already have your MRI (you can get a copy on CD free if you tell them it's for the surgeon) and initial diagnosis, you could try calling the surgeon's office yourself for an appointment. Not likely to work, but it's just time lost playing phone tag.
But do be upfront with any new doctors that you are seeing. Tell them you're looking for 2nd opinion or surgeon referral, etc. And that you already have your MRI. They still get paid.
