Any Spyder owners here? On the hunt for my wife.

Ended up buying a 2008 from a fellow about an hour east of Ottawa.

Congrats! Even though I'm not a fan of those myself after test riding one, I have to say that looks pretty sharp in that colour scheme.

Now, I just need to figure out how to get it home. The seller was nice enough to offer to hold onto it for me for a few weeks but the forecast doesn't look amenable anytime soon to do a 5 hour ride home, so I'm on the hunt for a trailer. The 4x6 Uhaul open trailer doesn't fit a Spyder apparently so I'm going to have to try to rent a snowmobile trailer or something somewhere.

What's the Spyder's width? UHaul also has 5' and 6' wide trailers.

In really great shape for the year, ran nice, and has a few farkles installed already as well as a nice set of Givi's which between the frunk and the bags is more than enough for the type of travelling we do, especially with all the storage on my scoot as well. Paid $7K which I was pretty happy with as well especially considering a few $10-$13K absolute turds I looked at. For the amount my wife may (or may not) ride this summer it was hard to swallow having $15-$20K sunk in something newer. An RT would have been nice, sure, but lets see how this one goes - if she rides the wheels off it this year then we can probably resell it for every dime we'll have in it and upgrade to a newer RT if she still wants one. But she seems pretty happy with this one thus far.

Not sure what area you live in, but we’ll be headed to Ottawa in the next few weeks and would be more than happy to trailer it back for you. Not sure if it helps or not, for reference I’m about 15-20 minutes west of Waterloo.
How wide are the Spyders? I’ve got access to both an enclosed and open trailer that are about 7’ wide.

Thanks, interesting. I didn't realize there was two options for the 6' wide uHauls - the problem with the ramp model is that the rear end narrows juuuuuust enough where the ramp folds up that Spyders won't fit apparently, but doesn't seem to be an issue with the non-ramp version.

That's a very awesome offer, very appreciated. It's actually about an hour and a half east in Quebec (depending on traffic) so it would be a bit of an imposition though. Plus it's an older fellow who really wants cash (and speaks 90% french lol) so I need to go back anyways. Super awesome of you to offer though!

Anyhow, a plan was hatched today - I posted on FB in a local group asking if anyone had a snowmobile trailer they'd rent me, and low and behold, a friend responded and offered me his enclosed snowmobile trailer that I didn't know he had. So, I'm golden - he just needs to take his sled to a dealer this week to drop it off and then the trailer is all mine next weekend. Gotta get going reorganizing the garage now to make room for a spyder as well now - probably won't bother trying to sell my wife's Vstar 1100 until spring as prices will be better come then, so everything needs to coexist in there (somehow, ugh!) until then lol.

Glad you’ve got the pickup sorted out!

Thanks. It was a relief when the seller said he was OK with storing it for me for a few weeks as there really wasn't a plan B lol. I was by myself and had the camper with me (although I'd left it in Ottawa that day for the trip to and from the guys house, didn't make sense to drag it 300 unnecessary km) so even just renting a one-way Uhaul or something wasn't an option.

I spent 3 days in Ottawa doing a museum crawl (and saw a few movies etc) and used the camper as my motel and kitchen. Even paying for the gas it was still cheaper than 3 nights in a hotel and 2-3 meals a day out.
