Any scotch lovers out there?

The craft beer makers are also buying up whiskey / bourbon barrels . Barrel aged beers are a thing for some . Inness& gun may be the best example of beer in a whisky barrel on a commercial scale .

I could care less about most craft beer. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but bananas, Lucky Charms, or Whale Testicles are not ingredients in any beers I drink.

I tried Innis an Gunn once... Most of it blew out my nose.

That’s ok , they won’t miss you . You just pan fry those testicles .
I’ve moved on from ‘most’ craft beers , trying to hard to be hip , it’s not doing it for me .
John, who has become an aquaintance, owns Nicklebrook , which has been fairly successful thinks the biggest threat to the craft beer business is the new legal age kids , they would rather smoke a joint and drink a seltzer . No hangover, weight gain and you don’t pee in the middle of a concert. Things always change .

No weight gain from a joint? I beg to differ.

I’ll wolf down a bag of chips after some weed. But at least no hangover.

Tried one of their beers. Once. It is the Nickelback of beer. Couldn't pawn the leftovers on anyone.

We have two taps in the boat club , nickelbrook naughty neighbour and Stonehooker Even Keeled .I much prefer the Stonehooker , but that’s me .
12 other canned product . We had Cameron’s on tap but the vote went to Stonehooker.

Back on scotch , helping mom clean out here condo and found 3 bottles that were 12 and 15yrs old , 20 yrs ago . I don’t think bottle aging does anything .

My inlaws have a crystal decanter full of scotch that has been in there for years from a similar situation. Beautiful colour. Obviously not entirely sure what it is.

Isn’t Stonehooker that brewery on Lakeshore? My BIL knows the owner from Credit Valley. Good beer.

As for alcohols in bottles…my understanding is the age is only counted in barrels. Once bottled…it stays the same age.

Pretty much. They don't get better in glass but you still have the chance of them getting worse. I popped a bottle of Martini & Rossi red vermouth from ~1967. Pretty bottle. Contents not ideal. Haven't decided what to do yet. May filter and see if that improves things.

My BIL bought my son a bottle of BOWMORE (?) for his baptism as his Godfather. We're waiting until the kid's 18th, so I hope it doesn't go bad.

What type of crystal? Lead leeching can occur.

Dunno. It looks nice. I havent physically touched it. I don't think there are plans to drink it while my inlaws are alive. Good to know about lead leeching, if I end up with it, I don't intend to dust it for decades.

Yes, they are on Lakeshore. Decent beer - lots of gateway options.

Thank goodness you can get good booze in almost any corner of the civilized planet. There are always exceptions but 98% of the planet is well serviced .
