Any other KTM RC8R riders in Toronto?

Like the looks, but it sounds like a sewing machine at idle.

LOL :) - I still find it more pleasant than the sound of the open-dry-clutch Ducati (aka: Tambourine shaking about mixed with bolts flying around in a rusty tin can)...

I can think of 4 dealers in the GTA off the top of my head... parts arent an issue. Then again mine hasnt broken so I havent needed parts :)

I can't be the only one who thinks the RC8R is the ugliest sport bike ever
The angles make it seem a little over the top to me. Like it's trying too hard to look badass. I still think they're kinda neat though.

I can never really decide if I love it or hate it.

Same. I'm not a fan of the orange, though it's a KTM traditional colour. I think red or all blacked out would be quite nice.

RC8 looks great from every angle and side except the front. When you look at it from the front it's like looking directly at an elephant. lol

It's true...it's got a bit of a long horse-face look to it for me. People aren't used to the very acute-angle styling but it works for me - I've been smitten since the first time I saw one. The components are just delicious - everything that has billet aluminum look to it, mass produced but very nice quality and the form definitely follows function. The general look does create a split camp of opinions but it's unbelievably recognizable.

Pictures don't do these things justice - they have a very serious presence in person.

I have been giving a new one serious consideration, I was at GP yesterday, they have one just inside the door and the comments of people who walk past it were split about 50/50 with "That is awesome" and "It's Fugly"

I enjoy both bikes I currently own but my decision will come down to having to just one and being content with that.

The RC8R is beautiful in orange and white and is a marked improvement from the orginal RC8. I was considering one back when it came out but opted for the 1198. I had a Superduke for 2 years and KTM make top quality bikes.

In my view Ducati are still way ahead in the twin engine department in terms of power and refinement.

KTM had bad luck with the recession and that's when they original introduced the RC8 in North America, really bad timing for them in the height of it. Bajar now have 47% ownership and I think development is probably back on track again with an influx of investment cash.

All badass twins sound like that with stock pipes. However, once you change the pipes, they start to sound like pure death coming at you, like the world is coming to an end.

This.

Last summer changed out the stock with an Akropovic...yeah, she sounds like an angry jet engine now.

:headbang:

I've only seen one on the road in person, that was last year. I'm sure if I bought one I'd see them everywhere just like when I bought my SuperDuke; I'd never seen ONE in the flesh other than at the bike show... then I bought one last year and since then I've run into four others!

I'm seriously considering the RC8R LE for my next bike. I'm not sure if it'd be Akrapovic or Red Bull edition yet though. I've seen them at a fairly reasonable price point as well. Actually, Malcolm Smith Motorsports (in Riverside, Ca) had them listed at $17,999 in the fall. I know there'd be customs and such; but still likely $5,000 less than Picotte was selling them for last year.
