Any GPS Apps that can avoid roundabouts?

I personally don't mind them and actually like them for the purpose they serve.

They should have a round about on a road test for your license. Would force people to know how to drive through one.

As for the video that @GreyGhost posted. Half those people should have their license taken away.

I think that most of us as riders know that most cagers get their License out of a cereal box.

I heard they were available from the Sears catalogue as well.

As roundabouts become more common, including them on a drive test would be a good idea. They are still relatively uncommon though so many testing centres may not have one within range. A much bigger step to improving driver ability would be to require testing within xx km of your home. Lindsay DTC is overrun with vanloads of drivers from Brampton as it is much easier to pass in Lindsay. You should be tested under the conditions you expect to drive in (including roundabouts if they are in your community).

You are right.
I remember taking my G2 in Brantford.
Never been to Brantford prior to the test and probably never went back into Branford for another 15 years or so.

Not to toot my own horn but I only did this to get a quicker date and not to avoid a harder road test more locally.
My G was taken on Airport road.

Forcing local testing can also clean up some of that mess. Gov't knows how old people are and where they live and can reasonably forecast the number of test slots required. Set a standard of service (for instance test availability within 60 days) and hire staff to hit that standard. Lindsay would need to can 75% of their staff as they are running far more tests than the local population requires and brampton may need to triple their staff.

Obtaining a Drivers License in Ontario and probably Canada is a whole different story/thread and a complete JOKE.

Other parts of the world actually require you to know some basics of the mechanics of a car and even how to put on a spare tire.

You are stepping on their toes.
As a citizen you are not allowed to tell them how to run the government efficiently.
Please go back to your cubical and shut up. :ROFLMAO:

Can you imagine? That would probably end up in the death of a not insignificant portion of the applicants as the cars slipped off the jack.
Perfect. We obviously don't need those kinds of drivers on the road.

Really enjoying going through all the app suggestions... oh wait... :ROFLMAO:
To be honest I was kind of worried when I posted this, but glad to see so many other agree that roundabouts while serving a purpose bring a new batch of problems.

How dare you answer my question!!!

But this is actually pretty interesting and could be a good feature. I think I read somewhere that UPS plans it routes to avoid as many left hand turns as possible..

Funny enoughthis article is from 2016
"The navigation app is eliminating recommendations of these turns, and instead, will offer routes that bypass those difficult intersections, which include those that have no traffic lights and a consistent flow of traffic, roundabouts or limited visibility. The app will instead direct the driver to turn at a safer intersection that is along their path when possible."

There are lots of videos of cars jumping roundabouts but very few (maybe none) of them successfully landing the jump

But wait! As soon as I read that I remembered this video from years ago and I managed to find it.

The licence procedure at this point consists of having a pulse, a crayon, and being able to navigate a car (through a non changing course posted online so the person being tested has probably cheated and drove it a million times "preparing" already) without killing anyone or the examiner.

Managed that? Great, here's your licence!

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner. It is Cambridge.

I forgot Cambridge has so many traffic circles. What Milton lacks in volume they more than make up for in stupidity.

He full on punted that boulder. Probably wrote off the parked car it hit.

You're saying the out of towner test in Lindsay should be done while the driver is eating a bowl of noodles?

Don't laugh, I've seen it being done in Brampton.

I haven't seen too much stupidity in one lane roundabouts. The two-lane roundabouts are a waste of space. You have to assume that the inside lane will turn right at any time without looking as that is what normally happens.

Just for fun, here is rural Kentucky. More education required.

What are we really looking at? It appears as two one way roads.

I've got a video somewhere of the traffic around the Arc de Triomphe. Multiple lanes; just a zoo. But, I didn't see any collisions.
Now imagine you're a tourist in Paris and don't know there is an underground tunnel to get to the Arc.......
