In defence of Mike ( for transparency Mike and I belonged to the same yacht club at a point ) he’s a nice guy , marketable and at a point in his working life , did good stuff . His son Mike Jr is a good guy and has had spin off TV shows. But I think the licenceing of his brand got away from him, he had a marketing and sales team , ALL making coin off the Mike brand and it may have gotten ahead of him.
But I’ve been at parties with Mike , and he is a fun nice guy , he is not a scammer or sham. Some of his business associates may be .

I'm sure your view is fair but the buck stops with the guy at the top.
I had recently finished a job with one electrical contractor and was finishing another job for a different owner. The owner asked me for the name of an electrician he could call and I threw out the name of the recent contractor. Big mistake.
I got call from the owner asking what the guy was doing. He had totally botched the small job and I could feel the egg on my face. I had made an incorrect assumption. If asked I now have three or four contractors I can trust.
Keep the contacts up to date as a change in employees can kick reputations into the sewer.
AGM is shutting down and blames CBC. Of course the problem is CBC and not your scammy behaviour. 99% chance they just rebrand and continue to screw people. Any bets on whether Holmes group allows the new company to buy the Holmes logo too?
Ad buys are pre-booked. Watch for phone number to continue with a different company name.
A trail of lawsuits will now be suspended because technically the company no longer exists.

And i know a bunch of "great guys that are fun to hang with" that i would not trust for a second with my wife, dog or money. J.S.
Lease the equipment, rent the premises, a hundred dollars max in the bank. Creditors get to auction off the office desk.
That is part of the problem , many contractors don’t own much of anything . Trip to small claims court , or bigger claims court and the judgement yields nothing .
