An answer to tailgaiters?

it was about...defending your self from tailgaters, (reverse road rage), again i like the big industial size ball bearings, they aren't traceable from your bike

I'm curious, what would you do if the person in front of you thought you were following too closely and dropped a handfull of ball bearings on the road in front of you?

I know what I'd do and the person dropping the ball bearings wouldn't like the results.

chances are, if they were driving like a turtle, i wouldn't stay behind them. they have to do it on their time not mine, see ya later turtle. i dont tailgate.

The person you drop the ball bearings on probably doesn't think they're tailgating either.

it's the agressive driver that gets the ball bearings, where i'm in fear for my life kind of driving, not like the earlyer passive vidio from the post above.

Not sure I appreciate the involuntary post editing.

Carry on...

Well if you check the posting rules, that should have resulted in an infraction. I could put your original post back up and give you that instead, if you prefer.

a camera on the back is simply a waste of time....it's all about finding ways not to let them follow you when it comes to dealing with tailgaters, be prepared to do whatever you can to erase them from the rear..

It's not a waste of time if it catches someone hitting you, who then takes off. Given that more than a few people have had that happen, I'd say that it has value.

I'd venture to say that a driver following me with a red flashing light on a camcorder pointed at them would make anyone think twice about pulling something stupid.

If it's actually a camcorder, then maybe. If it's one of the various wearable sports cams, then they don't have a clue what it is.

That's only valuable in a very specific instance where you catch their plate with the camera facing backwards while you wouldn't if the camera was facing forward. And the amount of that value is the amount of your deductible because even with the camera facing forward, you'd still get the record of being hit, thus avoiding fault.

However there is much more to gain from pointing it forward since that's where everything happens that affect your decision making. If a guy turns left in front of you, a rearward facing camera won't help you. If a guy runs a red, same. If someone cuts you off, something flies into you, there's a fault in the road, or just guy you want to get a license plate pic of, you need the camera facing forwards.

You're missing the justice and revenge angle. Since we're required to have plates on the front of our cars in Ontario, and since the quality of video is frequently good enough to clearly make out the face of a driver to the rear (see my previously posted video), the hit and run driver is likely going to be in for some serious pain.

That's why I have TWO Replay XD1080 cameras.

Ah well, better facing backwards than facing your butt, like that Busa guy :)

Even when facing forward from behind me, I tend to aim a little higher than that ;)
