Amazon Shipping

I get my stuff delivered to work. If you can make it happen, it's a 5-day window instead of 2 (assuming you have typical business hrs) and no chance of porch pirates.

Funny enough, I tried that and they always showed up after 9pm so forced to redeliver.
Even used their work service where you specify hours etc..

I’m Prime , but next day has not happened for about 6 months

That's weird. Must be the particular courier they use for your hood. I'm rural escarpment (Snake Rd.) and get next day 19 out of 20 times. If I order in the morning a lot of times I can get same day. All my neighbours use Amazon (easier than driving into town) so there's multiple vans here daily. That may have something to do with it.

Ordered at 10PM last night... on my desk a moment ago.

A lot of it depends on the end carrier. Some carriers, the larger ones, do deliveries for others companies as well as Amazon.
A few years ago.. all of those carriers gave amazon's parcels priority... But that's not the case anymore.
One of the largest 'last mile' carriers.. regularly sets aside Amazon packages.. sometimes multiple trailer loads at a time... to make sure their other customers get delivered on time.

After enough times, the driver will know the hours he can deliver. Happened for me a time or 2 as well but good ever since.

Sadly, did not work that way for me, tried for months.

Not a Prime member.... located in Toronto.

Before COVID the majority of time I got items next day (even same day) for items fulfilled by Amazon.ca without Prime. My theory was it took more effort/cost at that time in the supply chain to purposely delay shipping just because I was not Prime.

After COVID (and during), it usually takes a couple, maybe a few days. They are almost never late (based on their initial estimate of arrival) on anything fulfilled by Amazon.ca, usually early. My latest order was made yesterday and says it will arrive by Friday (which is unusually long for a fulfilled by Amazon.ca IME--again not a Prime Member), I bet I get it Wednesday.

For my purposes. I almost never need something immediately from Amazon--I can wait two or so days. I will queue small items I am in no rush for in my cart until I pass the free shipping threshold or I just add in some k-cup coffee boxes to bump me over the threshold--always need that anyways and it is the same or cheaper than the store.

Amazon deliveries near me used to be all the same contractor with a logo on the door. Recently, no logos on the door and lots more speed. Full throttle after a dropoff. Not sure what changed. It's not a good change.

Yeah, I typically see two people in a unmarked white van.

Went to free prime to order a couple of things on Prime day. Said free two day delivery. Neither item was even shipped by the second day. First item was four and second was six. Not bad, but not as described.

That's like dropping off christmas presents at Canada Post on Dec 22. Sure, you paid for Expedited, but so did a grillion other people.

Sure but CP always says to expect delays, AMZ says two day delivery. Being a business with advanced logistics and a web site, it would seem to be easy to update that one line automatically when delays are happening and/or expected.

They will know they are going to miss deadlines. Bean-counters will have run the numbers and decided that even with $5 credits to the 1% that complain, they are way up over advertising 5 day shipping.

My Amazon stuff due yesterday showed up today. New cover for patio love seat, 3/4" plastic plugs for screw holes inside a boat and a 50ft expanding garden hose. Thats 3 stores avoided and $50 less that CTC. Take the time you need amazon folks !

Tell us how the expanding garden hose works once you get to using it.

Check to find out if there is return shipping fee by directly contacting the seller. The item site will have words "can" full refund.
Wanting to send something back but the return fee was $23, almost half the cost of the item. Didn't matter, if I was a Prime member, or the item was Amazon Choice.
