This. It's official government policy NOT to forget about it...so it seems hard to move on (they've chosen to respectively embrace it as part of the nation's history). I mean, they've got the whole "lest we forget" thing going on, but it's a little hard to move on when there are memorials and museums and the whole tourism industry is basically based on the nazi regime and all the atrocities that "they've" committed.That's because the holocaust is shoved down their throats every day of every year. It's a constant cloud over Europe. Special interest groups have made an entire industry of it, and its in their interest to keep the wounds fresh as long as possible.
With that said, Germany's come a long way in such a short period of time, and I'd be proud if I were German.
