Airline rant...

Kids flt home from Alberta was cancelled Edmonton to TO, they offered him Edmonton to Calgary/ Calgary to Ft Mac/ Mac to Winnipeg/Winnipeg into TO, 18hrs . Three plane changes with AC = never seeing that suitcase again.
Is the kid doing that ordeal or canning the trip? Time for cc to buy a light aircraft and pick them up. Let's you ride the wind in the winter.

@Hack , we flew home from Porto Rico into Buffalo, I had some weird premonition and pulled the car keys out of my bag before it was checked. Otherwise I'd have been in Buffalo with no car keys .......

@GreyGhost , not a hope in heck I'm buying a small aircraft, I've had the fun vicariously with my friends with the Lake aircraft ( replacement nose land gear was 80k used) , the 60's piper that buddy has to get into remote lakes to fish ( its completely terrifying ) and since its sooo far north and lives at his cottage I don't think maintenence or inspections carried on since it went up there in the 80's , and jet buddy pays for two pilots , a sky waitress and service through ChartRite . That thing costs what the annual budget for an African country would be.
That stuff is not for me LOL, I'm chump change .

I wasn't thinking jet money, more single prop. Buy in and operating costs are in the ballpark of a nice car. (~100K buy in plus ~15K per year operating). Pretty much a non-depreciating asset (most go up with time if you buy older ones) so it may actually be cheaper to own than a nice car.

Is this gonna morph into another baller thread... Lol.
There are quite a few people on GTAM that have small airplane levels of money in their bike collections. Afaik, nobody has jet levels of money tied up.

Nope , I would never risk small plane money , given how much they hold value and actually can appreciate.
I much prefer boats where I know I’m taking a beating on purchase, sale, and care and feeding .
I like predictably in life .
