Talked to a couple of buddies that served in Afgan

Was saying hopefully the 20yr olds that had a taste not being under the taliban thumb will pick up arms and fight

when they were running the first election after the NATO occupation
the one that the puppet Karzai won
although the Taliban were not allowed on the ballot
had they been, polling indicated they would have won

of course it was only men that voted or were included in the polling
and people will choose a domestic tyrant over foreign occupation every time

it's not a matter of being cowards
Afghanis were never at war with the Taliban

Taliban has access to govt records that indicate who helped the western forces and their own government. They’re being searched out.

No matter. Someone puts a gun to my head to gain a password, they’re getting it. I’m dead either way but at least there’s a sliver of hope of being spared.

Maybe they had hope they wouldn’t be killed.

Or they were Taliban in hiding and just had the passwords / access the whole time.
 
Apparently they executed a bunch of ISIS fighters too....

Little brother was working nights as a security guard in a building downtown.
His boss asked him what he would do if the place was robbed while he was on duty.
His reply was that he would ask them if they needed help getting the stuff out to their car.
Joking, but yeah that's above his pay grade, and his boss agreed.
 
What the everyloving bleep are our "leaders" doing? Sent a C17 to evacuate people. Good so far. Payload is ~170,000 lbs. Good so far. Picked up 106 people (~20,000 lbs) and left. wtf. How about we risk the plane and crew six times as often as necessary. Previous trip had <200 evacuees. Continuing the canadian political tradition of theatre instead of maximum impact.

Continuing to risk our soldiers to pull out 100 at a time seems dumb. US apparently had 800 inside the plane with lots hanging on the outside. My point is, if you are going to make a trip, fill the plane. If you want to slow down the evacuation (not a great idea based on what I have seen but obviously I am not privy to a lot of important information), make fewer trips per week.
