Advice On Gixxer Exhaust (Slip-on)

I heard one in person, an m4 gp with the cat. Still sounds awesome. And in my opinion, you can't beat the price. $240.

The 600 & 750's had a bolt on cat in '06 & '07. From '08 on, they are welded to the end of the header pipe. It's a tricky cut / grind job to do it right.
Here's a noise clip from my busa with dual M4's and no cat delete:

As stated, for 2011+ 600/750's you need to perform some delicate surgery to remove the welded-on cat. An aftermarket mid-pipe is available from MJS Performance (and possibly others). I've made inquiries to M4 regarding a possible full TI system with the GP shorty, but they say there isn't enough space available to do this with a necessarily longer can (for noise suppression in the absence of the cat).

Huh?
The catalytic converter converts bad fumes back into nitrogen and burns off others (Carbon monoxide, etc). It has no meaningful use for noise suppression.
FYI - 600 & 750 GSX-R's from 2008 on, need the 'delicate' surgery, as opposed to the 'easy on / off' bolt on that the 2006 / 2007 models came equipped with.

Where's the best place to buy or order online for m4? I was looking at getting one but local places don't seem to carry them.

There's what it looks like on your bike. I'm going to try the gp. If I don't like it or get hassled by cops I'll go yoshi

Sent from my commodore 64 on dial up
The cover doesn't really flow with the pipe at all.

Beg to differ.....there is a noticeable and considerable difference in sound levels between a catted and catless setup with the M4 GP.

Wow. Amazing.
My '08 750 went a couple weeks with a Yoshimura CF R-77 attached to the CONVERTER until the mid pipe arrived. Once it got here, I sawed the CONVERTER off, installed the mid-pipe to the R-77 and the end of the header. There was NO difference in sound. I took care of 'altering' the noise I heard when I took the MUFFLER off (and replaced it), who's job it is to "muffle" the "noise" coming from the exhaust produced by the engine, which exits through the header - pass(ed) through the CONVERTER (to rid society / nature of pollutants) and out the MUFFLER.
All the other "hacks" I was involved with were all done at once, i.e. MUFFLER and CONVERTER binned at the same time, so I can't speak for Akrapovic, Two Brothers or M4.
I have a CONVERTER back ss system on my F150. The oem is behind the shed. My truck would sound exactly the same if I removed the CONVERTER and welded a pipe.
Did you know some woodstoves come equipped with CATALYTIC CONVERTERS? It's not for 'noise reduction'.

Are you sure you didn't hear the bike when both the muffler and converter were replaced at once, and not just the converter?

Pretty sure the cat is the honeycomb structure in the header. The box underneath is just the secondary muffler.

Dave Nobel from Competition Cycle is the official M4 Dealer - Give them a call

No one is disputing the intended purpose of catalytic converters....I'm well aware of what they are used for. My point is, and it MAY be specific to 2011+ 600's and 750's, that deleting the cat on a M4 GP slip-on-equipped GSX-R makes for a louder bike, all other factors being equal. If you like, I could pull up a number of threads that speak to this.

Good to know. Hopefully it will save a life ;-) .

Do you have traction control/anti-wheelie on your busa? Sounds nice :)

No t/c, no a/w, no brains.
Bone stock '09 with M4 slip ons. I'd been down the track a thousand times, but it was my 1st ever pass on the Busa. I was taking it easy. Sold it a month ago.
