900,000 students coming in…

While politics is tough to keep out…this is a direct result of political decisions…..

New student limit of 24h/week of work STARTING in September…

But this little tidbit got in there…silly.

So basically…no limit during time when school is out…which is the same time as real Canadians and PRs are also looking for work.

Is there some incentive for businesses to hire international students? I swear every part-timer at HD, Walmart etc are 'in school'

Cheap labour. They’ll work cheaper than the local workers and take more ‘abuse’ as they’re not familiar with the rules and regulations of employment.

They’ll accept worse living conditions (X per room / house / condo) so they can take lower pay.

“I am an international student and I come from a humble family without many resources,” he said."

Yeah, uh, I'm pretty sure part of coming to Canada as an international student involves proving ones ability to actually support themselves.

Unfortunately I know this is gamed by many, I remember reading at one point that there was companies in some countries overseas that would more or less "rent wealth" on paper in some fashion so that these students could get accepted when in reality that didn't have the means to be here to begin with. But many, including Mr. Prajapati sure seems to legitimately have the financial ability to support himself based on his social media, despite his cries of "lack of resources" in his Toronto Star article.

It's unfortunate that arsebags like this ruin it for others. There are legitimate students from overseas who are here to learn. Who don't game the system. Who's families (and themselves) surely struggled to put together the money to make it happen. Who put their hear and souls into it for their own betterment. And yes, who may sometimes need a helping hand along the way.

And then there's a**h0les like Mr. Prajapati.

How do you think all international students are going to be looked upon now by 90% of our population now as a result?

And most of those recruiters are paid by Canadian Schools to recruit those students.. help them game the system.. a lot of those recruiters are selling BS... sometimes promising housing and jobs... The schools and the government are the real problem imo.
We saw stories not long ago .. of students showing up with acceptance letters.. cancelled after they arrived.. and no where to go. The school did that.. the government did nothing.. and it's still going on..

Same with international students working for cash.. Yes, they are gaming the system.. most do because they need to... but why don't we get angry at the companies that are employing them, the agencies that are illegally providing the positions.. all making huge money from it.. and the numerous government agencies that allow it happen... and in some cases.. help facilitate it.

Instead we focus on single guy.. and a couple bags of groceries.
I think he's just an easy target for people's anger at the overall situation... warranted or not.
And.. I'm not going to judge someone's financial position based on a sweater and a few social media pics...
His story is all over here and India.. has anyone seen anything else that shows he's lying?

Problem starts when thousands follow the examples in that single guys posts.
Some see it as a scam, some see it as an instruction manual.

The hour limit exceptions during breaks and summer already existed.
The limit is charging from 20 hours to 24.. that all. For the past couple of years.. there's been a an exception in place for any student that was here before a certain date.. that's going away now.

There has been an actual instruction manual making the rounds at the schools for months now. Heard about it when the Algoma (small U) "university" scam blew up and was in the news.

The problem started when the school's were given almost free rein to recruit this many international students.

Who then post videos on how to game the system. While gaming the system.
So if the schools only allowed 100 students in and someone posted the same video it would be ok?

If one or one thousand are cheats , makes no difference. Don’t post a douchey video about how to game the system and be sad when it blows up in your face.
He was in a Laurier business program and had worked at a bank , he failed to learn how to properly game the system and that’s on him.

Kind of makes you wonder, did he actually expect a positive response to this video?
Guess it goes to show the different mentality and ethics of people...

More importantly, what happened at the food bank? Did they get an influx of new clients, did half their clients stop coming when then saw the potential backlash or no change (other than I can't see that guy showing up again).

He likely thought he would get a positive response by other like minded people in the scammer culture. People post all kinds of (legit and not legit) "life hacks" to get the likes on the socials.... He likely didn't expect it to go "viral" with the non-scammer culture and the resulting backlash.

The entire thing is nothing new and not this guy's original idea... from November last year:

I don’t think anyone things the govt isn’t responsible for this mess and point squarely at JT for this 💩 show.

However, this guy is an easy target because he’s literally posting a ‘how to’ manual for all to see as some type of life hack for cheating the system.

I have zero issue with people using the food bank…when they actually need it.

I take issue with people abusing it because it’s a way to save money and keep food away from those that actually need it.

And I take an even bigger issue with people not only flaunting how they abuse a system set up for the less fortunate, but to advertise it openly for all to see and figure ‘hey, I can do that too! Why pay for groceries like a sucker when these suckers are giving it away’.

To me…eff him and everyone like him.

Here is a good example of the of the problem beyond the federal government and JT's hand in it:

So many Ontarians are lining up to take the highfalutin two year business diploma at Niagara College they had to open a satellite campus in Toronto??? Nope, when you look up tuition for these programs offered at the "Toronto campus", guess what, they list international student tuition up front (I can't find a link to domestic), that is the entire story IMO. Not just NC but many Colleges have these GTA "satellite campuses" to cash in on all this, my guess is the international students, almost entirely, only want to come to the GTA.

This type of stuff and the mall colleges are on the province's and Doug's watch and purview.

PS, funny this campus is not listed here:

This company and it's platform facilitates companies hiring illegal workers and paying them cash. It was set up using some Ontario tax payer dollars.. openly advertises that they don't withhold taxes or report earnings to the CRA. They even advertise some of the companies that use their platform...
Thousands of international students are working illegally thru this platform.

As long as they don’t show up for work in expensive Uni endorsed sweaters it’s fine , just fine .

I agree with everything you said in general..
I just don't know enough about the guy, his financial position, situation, etc.. to make that conclusion about him.

The schools are making money hand over fist. So are the landlords, the recruiting companies, the employers, local business, the taxes generated etc. Getting some free food is a drop in the bucket. No soup for you!
