900,000 students coming in…

One person's scammer is another person's hustler that works the system. Cultural aspect also factor in...

While I agree going to a food bank when you do not need to is morally wrong and IMO totally scumbagish it is technically not breaking the law AFAIK.
A cash side hustle is breaking the law but how does one see it morally? then...
Collecting CERB etc. payments when not entitled to them?
Collecting EI while working for cash?
Flipping houses while declaring them as a PR to avoid taxes?
Committing mortgage fraud to buy or own more than one can afford?
Panhandling for money (as a job basically) on the street while collecting disability money?
Using a back door for immigration like student visas (not to be an actual student)?
Stealing stuff, property, bikes, cars?
Being a MP or MPP (any party), maybe this is the same as the previous one?
There are many more examples of varying degrees depending on views.

Some of the above our society in general will have a very high percentage of negative views on while others much of society will see a hustler trying to get a head (back to possible cultural views in some cases). All come with some sort of cost to society, none are truly victimless.

Just food for thought, pun intended.
I think you can't use laws on the books to evaluate a scumbag - I think that is measured against a moral standard that doesn't really consider whether something is legal or illegal.

Going down your list, here's my take:

Going to a food bank when you do not need to - SCUMBAG
A cash side hustle - BooYa! Already paid enough taxes in the full tile gig.
Collecting CERB etc. payments when not entitled to them - SCUMBAG
Collecting EI while working for cash SCUMBAG
Flipping houses while declaring them as a PR to avoid taxes? Hope you get caught
Committing mortgage fraud to buy or own more than one can afford? Hope you get caught
Panhandling for money (as a job basically) on the street while collecting disability money? BooYa! As long as you're legit on Disability
Using a back door for immigration like student visas (not to be an actual student)? SCUMBAG & Hope you get caught
Stealing stuff, property, bikes, cars? SCUMBAG & Hope you get caught
Being a MP or MPP (any party), maybe this is the same as the previous one? SCUMBAG & Hope you don't get caught

Here we go…TD Data Scientist (avg pay of 98k) did get fired…

Good riddance. So not a student apparently, but even worse…a well to do person just ripping off the system set up to help those less fortunate.

Only negative is it’ll keep the idiots from posting so they’ll just do it quietly.
No way he was a data scientist at TD. He's a student at Laurier, the best job he could land at a bank would be a short-term student gig or a time branch teller - both are close to min wage jobs.

How come they dont try this in their own home country (assuming India?).
They would be caught and probably beaten to death with large wooden sticks lol.
Nothing I see in the video says specifically they are foreign students to me, unless I miss something other than they are brown???

I posted in another thread but I had a front row seat to a LCBO take down recently. In that one the guy making the break for it (with a cart full of scotch) was a 100% white guy and my guess Canadian born based on multiple things. Security guards that stopped him were both of East Indian descent... The two local LCBOs here have been hit multiple times, all accounts are it is not generally immigrants hitting them (gangstas and tweekers are)...

In context though, these types of robberies (more than just the LCBO also hardware, tools, grocery, whatever....) are far too common and the scumbags know that the store employees are not allowed to do anything but watch, cops are no where to be found and in the off chance they do get caught it is catch and release with little to no repercussions. Someone steps in, they risk getting charged with assault...

Funny donut shops rarely get hit?/s

Props to the guy for doing something (other than the risks including sadly charges), bad on the other people in the store that didn't at least make a move towards the door to add some imitidation to the criminals, even if not jumping in, instead of yelling at the good guy to stop, WTF. In hindsight, kicking the bags of booze might have been a good move, broken bottles of booze have no value...

I think your seeing some cultural bias, probably earned.

I’m a very tolerant person then it comes to race, colour and orientation. I’m a bit intolerant when one’s believes their situation gives them privilidege, and less tolerant of those who game the system.

I get the fact that there are cultural differences in the way people view things. What is normal in one culture or country may be considered abhorrent behaviour in another. What I don’t get is why so many feel their native social norms are acceptable when they move to Canada.

What drives me crazier is how polite average Canadians are when we’re taken advantage of. Including me, as I, Service Ontario staff, and a dozen other customers politely watched several people game the system to their personal advantage.

So a student can get airfare from where ever, tuition , rent , a $300. Laurier jacket , three squares a day are the problem? Something stinks .

Apparently not. Prior to being deactivated his social media apps had posts of him taking friends+foodie shots while dining out in restaurants.

Scammer culture. Do unto others because they'll do unto you.

“I am an international student and I come from a humble family without many resources,” he said."

Yeah, uh, I'm pretty sure part of coming to Canada as an international student involves proving ones ability to actually support themselves.

Unfortunately I know this is gamed by many, I remember reading at one point that there was companies in some countries overseas that would more or less "rent wealth" on paper in some fashion so that these students could get accepted when in reality that didn't have the means to be here to begin with. But many, including Mr. Prajapati sure seems to legitimately have the financial ability to support himself based on his social media, despite his cries of "lack of resources" in his Toronto Star article.

It's unfortunate that arsebags like this ruin it for others. There are legitimate students from overseas who are here to learn. Who don't game the system. Who's families (and themselves) surely struggled to put together the money to make it happen. Who put their heart and souls into it for their own betterment. And yes, who may sometimes need a helping hand along the way.

And then there's a**h0les like Mr. Prajapati.

How do you think all international students are going to be looked upon by 90% of our population now as a result?

Yet according to his (now deactivated) Instagram he had the means to travel around the country, eat at nice restaurants, and had a lucrative (?) music career. And it appears the only food insecurity he could possibly have would be he's self conscious about his muffin-top.

Trudeau was quoted by Global News as saying during a housing announcement in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. "Now we're at 7.5% of our population comprised of temporary immigrants. That's something we need to get back under control." "We want to get those numbers down," Trudeau was quoted as saying in Nova Scotia. "It's a responsible approach to immigration that continues on our permanent residents, as we have, but also hold the line a little more on the temporary immigration that has caused so much pressure in our communities."

IT'S YOUR ******** FAULT YOU'RE (read: WE'RE) IN THIS PREDICAMENT YOU WASTE OF SKIN.

Yep, covered in my reply.

I’m not ******** on immigrants or international students (and it’s hard to comment on this thread without it coming across as racist, which I’m certainly not, I work along side some awesome immigrants), but I am sick and tired of *anyone* comes here via any method and then abuses the privilege and becomes a drain on society or just a total scumbag. It happens amongst our own residents as well who choose to spend money on smokes, booze, tattoos, whatever….and then go to a food bank to put food on the table and collect a welfare cheque, so it’s not just immigrants and students. I know of a lot of Ukraine immigrants who are working their ass off here and are glad for the privilege. But our poster boy in this thread….scumbag.

If my wife and I ever moved/retired out of Canada to the USA, or Mexico, or one of those countries where you hear about a lot of Canadians retiring to, I would be frankly aghast at the mere thought of becoming a drain on *their* (often meager) systems, ie going to a food bank and literally taking food out of the mouths of the residents of that country who may need it because they’re down on their luck…so I could stuff it in my gullet instead…despite being able to afford food.

But some people are fucʞing shameless.

Can we stay classy? Not sure if this thread was politics before I joined in after reading the last few pages and wanting to chime in on the student topic, but why must politics turn into comments like this?
I'm not even sure if that's politics. He has always been a waste of skin. Trust fund kids rarely become beneficial members of society.
