Sure, but you'd think returning to the scene of the crime 31 times would be insanely risky. Also the cops would just have to find one working security camera in the area and look for the truck that shows up 1-2 times an hour

Generic white cab, stolen plates, lots of hours of work required to go through that much camera footage. I think they are pretty safe if they arent morons.
 
Seems to be a couple of places where that many trailers were sitting. Either someone has come up with a new way to increase cheap housing or some trucking company severely under bid for a new contract and needs assets badly.

Sounds like you have done this before... :sneaky:

Should be able to skim through footage easily enough, and if the cameras are setup with motion dection it should have alerts.

My thoughts exactly. My buddy got some stuff stolen multiple times by guys in trucks with stolen plates and black masks. One of them even dropped a health card and it wasn't enough for the police to investigate, as that could've been stolen/lost as well.

When a truckload of frozen turkeys were stolen I asked a trucker I knew what anyone would do with thousands of frozen turkeys. He said if you knew one crooked butcher he'd know another six who would each know a bunch more. Gone in two days.

The "meat man" used to visit dive bars in hamilton in early afternoon. In the back of his non-refrigerated van was a hell of a lot of pork and beef. All the chicken went to the back door of restaurants. He also had socks and video games. He'd give you video games two for one but both had to be the same game. Obviously that wasnt a population promotion. He was reluctant to discuss where he acquired stock from. He'd wander into the bar yelling "meat man, meat man" and patrons would follow him out to see what he had that day.

You think they were worried about hours of service while stealing trailers?

Repo is an interesting idea. I would expect that they would have notified police though.
 
Semi-trailers have license plates and VINs, don't they?

WTF would any transport company do with 32 hot potatoes like that?

Don't cross the border? Build an underground survival shelter? Storage units behind an industrial building? If mixed in with another 50 white trailers, it wouldn't be that obvious.

They had 36 hours and for all we know they moved them 100 m into an adjacent warehouse. Alternatively, another answer to Brians question, could you get them filled and across the border prior to the theft being reported? Swap plates with legit white trailers and I doubt the border would document trailer serial numbers. Obviously that takes more people and coordination and you question whether that would be worthwhile.

Over 60% of the trailers you see on the roads are through a leasing company. The dude that owns them has a hugh mansion up on the grange.
