wringing 500hp out of a mustang was a crazy expensive process and something you only saw on tv when the televised NRHA drag events. Now you can bolt that on in the driveway with fairly basic skills. and getting beyond that isnt hard either or really uber expensive. Its really fun to see and thankfully you dont see or hear of too many of these guys getting into mischief.

The only thing old on that car is the body shape. It does over 225km in 1/4 mile and still stops easily before the end of the track. Ryan is planning to take the fox to a standing mile event to see how fast it can go. Now I’m not trying to compare to that C63 AMG that car is a high speed beast. Nor would I compare my buddy to that kid. I’ve had a C6 Corvette up around 200 but never anywhere near 300 that is absolutely nuts and although I like speed I don’t condone that blatant disregard for others safety.

Love the notchback stangs, that was THE car to have/beat when I was in high school. There is definitely one in my minds dream car garage.

Problem was the original chassis was built with semi wet noodles and were pretty common to break under big power, subframe connecters and tower braces were a necessary mod. They NEED serious chassis and braking upgrades if you boost power.

When I was working as a tech in my early 20s we had one come in that was driven by a guy that was, uhh, let's say very well fed...he managed to rip the front drivers seat mounts right out of the floor when he banged off a hard 2-3 shift. We had to weld in a steel plate and reinforce the seat mounts for him.

True. But it's hardly a Mustang any more. Is there such a thing as a bitsa car?
Speaking of NHRA. Been watching some lately. Does anyone else want to line up to punch Steve Torrence in the face?

The stock 5.0 blocks start to let go around that 500 mark.
This one has the 2016 Coyote 5.0 out of the 2016 f150 Totally different animal.
It wasn’t a cheap swap But the Coyote swap responds really well to boost.
My old school 351 Windsor only makes around 450 to 500 ish.
It’s stroked to 392” forged bottom end full roller with heads cam and intake.
For old school it’s pretty potent But the new stuff is just crazy.

Even modern vw 2.0 blocks are good for 500 to 600 hp before you need to go in and change some things to make it stronger. Modern turbo engines are a marvel in how cheap it is to make crazy power
A bigger turbo, some fueling, jiggle the electronic pixies and you are ready to blast off.

I have friends with fast cars and kids. One is building a 1000hp Fox body Mustang. I’m sure some of you have kids and still enjoy a rip. My Dad has always been a car guy. When I was 17 Dad bought me my first car, 68 Firebird in the 90’s. I was driving his Modded 96 Impala SS. Had the keys once to my uncles Maserati for a night. Nothing as fast as this kid but if my Dad had deep enough pockets I’m sure I would have had access. In 6 years my Daughter will likely be allowed to take the Cobra out and in ten probably her brother.

I did some pretty stupid stuff and wrecked a lot of rubber but the tickets were either small or lower than actual speed. I would not have ever been stupid Enough nor had the balls for that speed run though.

No doubt Daddy is ****** about this big of a ticket though.

You were very lucky. My dad was never a car guy. My family always had the cheapest and smallest economy cars (plymouth reliant, dodge colt, ford festiva, etc). When I bought my first car (midsized sedan with a V6) my dad told me what a fool I was for buying such an unnecessarily fast car.

My Father and I are very close and share a lot of interests. We attend the collector car auction almost every year. For a few years we actually bought and sold special interest vehicles as a part time business.
Cars Trucks and motorcycles are a passion that my father passed on along with teaching me my trade and work ethics. The when I wanted to start my own contracting business he came out of retirement for 3 years to help get me started.
Im very lucky that way

I have had two collisions where babes thought they could get through an intersection fast enough but spun their tires on snow or gravel. I had the right of way and it would have been very close even if the traction was good. True graduated licensing means starting with two wheels.

A friend dragged a Mustang with some serious power. After the runs they opened the door with a crowbar.

I like that body style and wouldn't mind one but only do handling and braking mods. It would totally frustrate me to have a car with speed so excessive I couldn't legally use it anywhere.

I agree. Chassis and brake upgrades, with minimal power upgrade, say maybe 300 hp or so would make a nicely rounded car. But then there's this and I forget what I just said lol

I'd have to study weight balance first but just to be different my mind goes to a turbo four.

My daughter just graduated from UBC...
So... over the past four years I've been out to Vancouver several times....
Visiting Vancouver is like going to a car show... I've seen vehicles there I've NEVER seen except in magazines and on TV...
...And yes, many times you'll see McLarens, Ferraries, Aston Martins with 'N' decals driven by what looks like a 16 year old...
For the slightly older it's Bentley and RR... The poors drive G Wagons

I remember a few guys putting the Capri bubble back hatch on their stangs to look a bit different.

I loved (and still do) the fox body trunk style....but man that interior was so bland.
And I know it was a bare bones cheap muscle car, but still....my '88 Stellar had a nicer interior.

Haha same here. My dad had wanted a Murano for 15 years at least but always ‘too much gas’ as the reason he never had it.
It’s the practicality of our family growing up that keeps me from buying toys and is the primary reason I still don’t have that toy. Such a pain in the ass to overcome that mentality.
Love my parents but for them it’s all about work work work and fun takes a very back seat to practicality.
