3 Year old Phone Contracts Expiring in a couple weeks

wife and I both want new phones and would prefer to get a shared data plan between the two phones. I called Telus to see what they wanted to offer me to keep my contract with them but they didn't even want to take the the time to talk to me about it..guess i will look elsewhere june 3rd

So will the double cohort be good or bad for consumers? Will the used phone market be flooded with off contract phones? Will so many people signing up for new contracts exhaust the carrier's supply of new phones? These are not rhetorical questions

That's kinda surprising to me considering you are exactly the kind of customer they want, Robellus loves flogging shared data plans

When i first had a cell phone Telus actually had great customer service that's why iIstayed with them for so long. (since 2000). But this time im going to who will give me use the best dataplan at the best price point.

Don't get me started of lusciously data plans are overpriced I had an unlimited one back in 2009

Joined Clearnet after Rogers tried to stick or to me. I vowed back then never to give Ted and his company another dime for cell phone business. Pretty much Telus has me as a customer for life.

+1. I was also Clearnet original .
They all have their faults but TELUS beats rogers hands down on customer service.

I think I'm also going to go back on contract. Had a Galaxy S4 for a bit now and the thing just doesn't do it for me. I miss my iphone lol!

P.S. For folks that still want a smartphone, but don't really care if it's the fastest/thinnest/most purple/etc, consider the Moto G... particularly if you *don't* want a contract. They are cheap to buy new and very cheap to score used. Plus I think both versions of the Moto G do or will offer some version of Android Lollipop

Its also a very bloatware free version of android good little phones but im a bit of a tech nerd and want something more advanced

I work for Rogers. If anyone has questions pm me. I'm honestly here to help. If I get people pm-ing me just to say rogers sucks, I'll just ignore it. Lol. End of the day, it's my job and I take pride in my work.

but I am here to help the community anyway I can.

Its true tho..they do suck...but so do bell..when you dont have to work hard to keep customers that what you get. Mind you all mystuff is with rogers and if the deal is right will add my wifes and I's new phones too our bundle.

Agreed. To each their own at the end of the day. I can't and will not force anyone to buy rogers just because I work for them. I've blatantly told clients to go to the other 2 of the Big 3.

I deal most with business clients. But I do know my fair share of consumer stuff.

I just don't like it when I'm personally blamed for the expereicne that some rogers clients receive. Lol. I'm not Ted Rogers.

Nope, you're still alive. Have you read your copy of his autobiography?

PM me if you wish, but what is the best rate I can get on a plan with more than 3GB of data? Paying 70-100 bucks isn't my idea of a good plan. Can i bring over a competing offer??

LOL. i haven't actually. new CEO wants to do a bunch of changes.. and he's already started.

it will all depend on what you currently have, tbh. like mentioned above, new CEO is making a bunch of changes. and right now all he cares about is retention and not acquisition, from the looks of it. i can see customer retention be able to do something. give me a pm, with your email/number if you want to talk into detail.

We'll have to see. Understanding that the pricing will go up as the terms are now 2 years vs the 3 years of the past, I just got off the phone and found that my corporate package has gone up in price (expected) while offering less product (or at least less of what is useful to me). Add to that; Rogers only carries the iPhone 5S in 16 gig (I don't think I want to pay for, nor carry the much larger 6) and my shopping around begins.

Telus has a similar plan (albeit less talk minutes which aren't a concern) with the iPhone 5S 32 gig...

I have been without a contract for 5 or so years now. Cheaper for me to buy an iPhone 6 Plus outright then to do a new contract as I could no longer get what I have for the price I have. I also hate being on contract for anything so that is an added bonus, as well as being unlocked and I can swap a sim card out in Europe.

Delfonic.. with my bundle (a program rogers got rid of and i wont be dropping it while im with them)and a $100 phone credit rogers was my best bets already signed up yesterday...

BTW the first rewards program really is a joke

It's better to buy a phone and don't enter into a contract. I've been doing that for 3 years and it's awesome. You get more flexibility and not screwed if you want to migrate.

Yeah I don't know why there was such an outcry over the contracts when it was so easy to avoid one. I've been contract free for a decade. Now that they got the 3 year plans on converted into 2 year plans it just made the price of everything go up. I looked into getting a new plan and subsidizing a phone. I have no care whether it was 2 year, 3 year, or hell, even 5 year, since I've been with Telus for a decade and no one has ever been able to touch the deals I'm getting with them. What did I find out? First of all the data plans are all about 3x more expensive and I'd have to get a $70/month plan instead of a $50/month plan. I worked it out to costing an extra $1200 over 2 years just to avoid that last year. You can buy a lot of decent phones for that price. I told them there was no way I was going to pay that and now if I want a phone upgrade I'll just have to buy it like I've been doing for years.

The only plans that came close to what I have now were the corporate plans I could get through work but as soon as the plans changed from 3 years to 2 the data they were offering dropped to ~10% of the original offer (dropped from 5GB to 500mb).

I've been with Rogers since 2002 & I'm insistent on leaving them. I'm tired of their bad business practices for too long
