Because you can get the same for 4k or less? Getting it from a dealer doesn't make it special.

I bought a new 2012 250r for $4k + tax last month.

? Mine came with a 2-year warranty, taxes in it was $4.5k.

13% of 4k is 520. Warranty should be free or you are getting hosed, dealers just got to throw it in or the deal doesn't get done. There's a dealer selling a 2012 with 0kms on kijiji right now for 4k+pdi. All in it is still less than $5200. Brand new. And green. Green ones are faster.
Try doing some shopping, negotiating, and a little math and you get a ninja for less than a used 5200 plus tax.

First search result on kijiji right now is a 2011 SE for 3500 and low kms.

I think I saw a TV commercial a few days ago.. snow city (not a shop I recommend at all) was selling their 2012 250r Kawis for $4000 .. add tax n extra $4500 top $5000 ... a used bike should not be anywhere above $4000 even with mods top is $4500 n that is a lot IMO...

Mods do not add value to a bike. If someone wants to recoup the cost of mods they need to return the bike to stock form and sell the mods separately.

You're adding a piece to the bike, but you're also (in most cases) removing a piece of the bike. So it evens out (in most cases. If it's something like a $900 shock, then you can charge a little more.)

At least, that's how I view it.
