2022 insurance

Got my renewal papers from Allstate and everything went up a lot.
Called a broker in Kitchener and he got me rates through Wawanesa.
Compared to my renewal papers with Allstate, here's the breakdown of how Wawanesa stacked up:
Cars were about the same
House is slightly more, about $150/yr
Motorcycles is where Wanwanesa wins. Their rate for both bikes with full coverage is about 35% of what Allstate wants for just liability.
Tuono 1100 V4 - $632
Versys 1000 - $420

See ya, Allstate.

My buddy was with Wawanesa through Dalton Timmis and his renewal just doubled. Had everything with them as well. House, 2 Cars and 2 bikes.

Next closest quote for me was from Pembridge. Maybe pass that along and tell him to give them a shot?

That's the thing to be aware of with insurance. Sometimes they'll get you in the door with a good rate and then nail you later.

Wawanesa has great rates for riders with decent experience and is one of 11 different insurance companies we can compare rates with. Good stuff. For anyone else that needs a quote email to: moto@nfp.com (y)

I just switched from Echelon to TD and went from $1400/yr to $650/yr. Crazy savings, feels like I've been getting ripped off over the last 6 years.

Weird because when I first started riding, TD was $3600/yr and Aviva was $1900/yr. I thought at $3600/yr they were basically saying we didn't want you, now it feels so cheap. Hope they don't increase on me...

I just submitted an online quote to TD and see what is in store for me. I had TD for the longest time, then AVIVA for a few years, but changed to Echelon last year and the renewal is at $1137 for this year (or end of this month). I am hoping for a better rate! AVIVA was good when I started at around $950/year.

Could you please share the contact info. of the broker? I would like to get some quotes for the bikes I consider?

Broker I dealt with was Kevin Fancy at Billyard Insurance Group in Kitchener.
Hi, did you bundle all your insurance needs with this guy? He told me they didn’t do stand alone motorcycle, if I had home, auto too then he could help…

I got some quotes from nfp and desjardins for bikes I am considering. Kept it basic coverage just liability for deciding which bike I should get. Prices based on rider training + New M2 rider + age 37 + desjardins has my auto and home insurance already.
Nfpdesjardins
2016 Honda NC750X DCT$1450$741
2018 Honda CB500X $1071$674
2013 Kawasaki Versys 650n/a$680
2016 Suzuki Vstrom 650$1362$724

It always pays to shop around when you see a renewal that looks out of whack. Desjardins, TD, and State Farm (direct writers) are the only insurance companies that dont work with any brokers so you have to call them directly. Most of the time a broker will be able to compare and find the best rates through all the other companies available but sometimes the direct writer has the best rate in certain situations. Personally the best rate for my own BMW S1000R was through Intact, and the best rate for the Triumph Street Triple 765R was through Aviva but both done through NFP.... way lower than Desjardins in my case.

Your quotes from NFP seem to be somewhat in line with my experience with them. Their quotes for me were comically high compared to the rest of the market.

Yeah desjardins told me they dont insure supersports.

Desjardins also insures my R6, which was the only insurer i could find that would insure SS when shopping in 2021

Thats what agent kept telling me on the phone. Also she said they don’t insure with just m1. Maybe SS thing is just for beginners like me.
Some companies require a certain level of experience before they will insure certain bikes.
