2022 insurance

One more for the TD renewal glitch. A bit of a YIKES! moment when I saw the $2300 increase, but a not-so-quick 20 minute phone call got it sorted out. Premium went down $60 over last year :)

As has been stated here already, it was the driving record that wasn't transferred over when they switched computer systems.

Hello Everyone,

Hope everyone is keeping safe!

Just thought I'd reach out to see if anyone would want an insurance quote for their 2022 renewals? I have some fantastic options if anyone's prices have gone up this year. I've been a long time supporter and sponsor of this site and my info can also be found in the insurance specialist section.

Happy to help anyone I can.

My TD policy is the same within $30 as last year just under $700. So it isn't them getting out of the bike business..it is a specific bike or area.

Looks like TD wants out of the motorcycle insurance business. They had been so good for years.

Great...I’m also with TD.
Expecting mine in the mail shortly.
:/

Matt has been very helpful with my insurance needs and also got me a better rate than my previous insurer. I highly recommend for anyone shopping around.

More moto insurance options than any other broker in Canada. All bikes insured, riders of all ages. Email to: moto@nfp.com

I called you guys for a quote last year and you were waaaaay out of left field - about 80% above most other brokers and insurance companies.
Maybe it was due to the bike?
Do you have better rates for non-sport bikes?
99% of the time its NOT about the bike... whether its a sport bike, standard, cruiser, etc. Its the COMBO of the rider and the bike. I ride a 999cc supersport and pay like $950/year myself but I have been riding for over 15 years. Supersports typically require at least 6 years moto licensed and the full M for rates to be decent. Pretty much everyone who requests a quote for a Gixxer for example either has just an M2, first or second year licensed (or havent even gotten the M1 yet) and in the super rare case they have the full M they have like 6 tickets and a suspension on their record. A Honda CBR650RA or even an Aprilia RS660 for example are SPORT bikes but no requirements or rate surcharges for even a first year rider.

If that’s the case, I should have been golden:
- M licensed for about 20 years
- Continuous motorcycle coverage for the last 15 years
- have a spotless driving record
- Live out in the country about halfway between Waterloo and Stratford, so not in a high risk area at all.

So if it is actually “99% of the time it’s NOT about the bike”, what other industry excuses do you have?

You are the 1%!

No excuses just try to shed light as to how this stuff works. NFP is a broker, we shop around for rates for riders, we dont control the rates - thats the individual insurance companies. Its like trying to book a flight through Expedia or Trivago vs why say Air Canada prices are what they are. If what you wrote re your riding experience is the case, email me at: moto@nfp.com and I can even try to look at your case personally.

My renewal came in at $3974, last year was $1583 full coverage on a 2012 Gladius and a 2019 Tracer gt.
I heard about TD and their mistake this year so I called in, I'm back to $1600...

Finally got around to looking more closely at my renewal. Same as last year, actually 2 years in a row it's been the same. With Johnson Ins.

Kinda expected, hoped, it would go down as my bike is now 10 years old.... 😬 (but my 5th year of riding)

Wow you've done a ton of riding for just 5 years.

The year (or even the $$value) of the bike doesnt affect the insurance rate much. Your experience helps though. Email to: moto@nfp.com for a quote. More moto insurance options than any other broker inc J&J, good for you to see what else is out there. The concept is sort of like this - if two people with similar riding experience get into an accident and one has a 2021 HD Road King and the other 2001 HD Road King who gets more hurt? The liability & AB portion of the insurance would be similar on bikes of a comparable size. :geek:

Got my renewal papers from Allstate and everything went up a lot.
Called a broker in Kitchener and he got me rates through Wawanesa.
Compared to my renewal papers with Allstate, here's the breakdown of how Wawanesa stacked up:
Cars were about the same
House is slightly more, about $150/yr
Motorcycles is where Wanwanesa wins. Their rate for both bikes with full coverage is about 35% of what Allstate wants for just liability.
Tuono 1100 V4 - $632
Versys 1000 - $420

See ya, Allstate.

+1 for Wawanesa.

Came back to Canada after an 8 year break during which I had no insurance history

800cc F560GS cost $450/year liability only.

Not bad.
