2021 Day Trips!

I’m planning a ride from Mississauga down to Erie, up the Niagara Parkway to NOTL and a stop in St Catherine’s this weekend. Suggestions highly welcome. Plan is to leave early (7am ish) on most likely Saturday.
Take a look at my post earlier in this thread #102. I didn't take the highway there but Lakeshore/north service road. Anyhow at around the pirate ship I got off and went south to Balls Falls area, some nice roads, and eventually made it to St Catherine's. NOTL be prepared for slow slow traffic.

Thanks @sburns Need to start exploring closer to home due to time constraints. Will check out some of those roads as I can.

Hey,
I want to give you credit for starting this thread and fir your rides (other posters too). It's great content and I look forward everybody's new posts.
The fact that many of the places here east of the city that you've gone to are familiar to me is also cool. Nice to hear someone else appreciates similar things.

It's inspiring me to get more saddle time this season.

Cheers,
Joel

Slide up to Picard's peanuts about halfway between NOTL and Virgil. Great selection of different flavours. Also a good brew pub in Virgil; Silversmith Brewing Company, located in an old church.

Good ride today. Just stopped in St Catherine’s and booking it home.

The couple on the right was admiring the convertible with the plate NOTLERS. I like.

Went on a really nice ride today for 1130km over 12 hours. Once I started riding, I just kept going and didn't stop much except for gas and a few pics. Made me think that it would be interesting to do an Iron Butt ride, except instead of doing it on highways, I would ride primarily twisty backroads. Highlights were Northey's Bay / #44, Flinton Rd, Tatlock Rd, Old Barry's Bay Road, Elephant Lake Rd, Dyno Rd and Deep Bay Rd.

Took a nice gravel road called River Road between Ardoch and Ompah

If you have never been on Tatlock Rd #9, check it out. It's an amazing road just off the 511 on the way to Calabogie. Speaking of which... Calabogie was beautiful!

It was suggested to me that after Calabogie and taking the 508/71, then I should head north along an easy dirt/gravel road call Hyland Creek Road. I'm riding on fresh Pilot Road 4's and this was a very easy road and pretty scenic.

Found out where all the lumber is hiding

This is a pretty nice rest stop on Old Barry's Bay Road with a waterfall and shallow water for swimming

I think this pic is from Lakeshore Road, which is off Lake Kameniskeg Rd, south of Barry's Bay. Looks like some nice beaches in the background.

I met up with this guy - turns out he used to work in Peel region and knows where I live. Told me that everyone speeds - and asked me to slow it down a bit and have a nice ride. What a super guy!

Look at your route makes my butt hurt.. lol . Is that a mini-sized couch u have for seat ?

Nice ride Shane! I’ll have to join you one of these days once it cools a bit! My butt hurts from 350km ride.

@ScorpionT16 the new seat is much better than stock, but still a bit uncomfortable after 300km. Will have to throw the air hawk on.

Looks very interesting I'll have to check that one out.
It wasn't that long, but it was a pretty nice break from the pavement. It would be pretty fun to string together a bunch of similar dirt roads for a full day ride of that kind of stuff.

Yes especially since gravel/dirt roads often go through scenic areas with nice views, more than paved roads. We should go for a ride one day since we seem to like the same kind of riding.

Another road in that area is called matawatchan rd that goes from centenial lake to buckshot lake rd: Greater Madawaska to Addington Highlands
It's paved, but the pavement is horrible, full of giant potholes and covered in sand/dirt, so I had to ride it slow. But if they ever repave that road it will be a great ride.

I'm up for a ride and agree that the dirt roads lead to some really scenic stuff you would never see off paved roads.

And I remember you mentioning that Matawatchan Road before - I don't think I've been on it before, but would be interested to check it out.

Nice route! That gravel route calls..

And that's the most number of pics I have seen from you in a day ride..

Since Northey's Bay rd has been mentioned a few times recently, I went and checked it out. Nice (y)
Then took 44 down to Havelock, was ok too!
I took no photos, just enjoyed the ride.
