I was hoping they could bring the weight down a little more. Somewhere around 465 lbs would be ideal for me. Then again I haven't been on anything larger than my 650 so I don't know if this is a good weight of 520 lbs for the vfr.....
I had a gen5 (1998-2001) VFR800, which came in around the 520lb mark. I never found its weight to be excessive and if anything, it made it easier to ride over long distances with so much heft. It handled me and all my luggage astoundingly well over its 174000km. The bike was a serious game-changer for me.
My only complaint was that I wanted more power; I think it topped out at around 95hp. But that's more of a want than a need.
I can't say enough good things about the VFR800. If you want to sport some days, tour other days, commute to work on the days between, and you only want or can only have one bike, I think this new VFR deserves a test ride.
