I like this bike.
I will be looking for a new bike in 2014.
There are a lot of new bikes out this year.
I also like the Yamaha 900 triple. But I hear it has a 3,000rpm stumble that makes twisties a bit rough.
I will have to get a ride on the VFR and the Yamaha.

I own the last version imported to Canada, 2009 white and black colour scheme. Not really digging the new version, the exhaust and civic dash need to go. How can you hide a SSSA like that?
The paint/graphics look very generic. Having said all that it still has the sweet V4 engine and will probably run forever.

The model's hiring interview ...

"you're going to be sitting on a bike" - "yes".
"it's going to be at a bike show attended primarily by men" - "yes"
"you'll be up on a platform where everyone will see you at all angles" - "yes"
"do you have any idea what you need to wear" - "umm .... a short skirt ?

... "you're hired" :)

I was hoping they could bring the weight down a little more. Somewhere around 465 lbs would be ideal for me. Then again I haven't been on anything larger than my 650 so I don't know if this is a good weight of 520 lbs for the vfr.....

I had a gen5 (1998-2001) VFR800, which came in around the 520lb mark. I never found its weight to be excessive and if anything, it made it easier to ride over long distances with so much heft. It handled me and all my luggage astoundingly well over its 174000km. The bike was a serious game-changer for me.

My only complaint was that I wanted more power; I think it topped out at around 95hp. But that's more of a want than a need.

I can't say enough good things about the VFR800. If you want to sport some days, tour other days, commute to work on the days between, and you only want or can only have one bike, I think this new VFR deserves a test ride.

Wow!That's a lot of km. I had just over 50,000 km. on mine when I sold my '99 VFR and it still looked and ran like the day I bought it.I had it maxed out once at around 260 km. an hour(not sure exactly,it was so long ago) and it was rock solid stable and predictable, much more so than my buddies R1 although he had about another 30km. an hour on me.Great bike and with decent tires and a competent rider it would shame a lot of the sport bikes on the road at the time. Freddie Spencer rode one at his racing school exclusively, that should tell you something. I think Honda's marketing phrase was "Grace under pace".I'm getting a little bored of my ST1300 and will definitely consider replacing it with the new VFR.

Thanks for review Sadrik...I'm going to take a serious look at this new model. Although I will never come close to the mileage that you do. I am interested in an all around good bike. A comfortable sport bike that I can use to commute, hit the twisties, and casual riding.
