2014 Ducati 899 revealed

Have you checked out the servicing costs on a Panigale, not to mention trucking it to GP Bikes for two days?

The 899 has 24,000km service intervals on the desmo valves (which I still don't understand why Ducati insists on that valve setup).
They even claim 15,000 km oil changes. Timing belt is once every 4 years. Its the same on the 1199.

GTA dealers love to contradict Ducati's own specs. Ducati is well aware they had a bad reputation for maintenance costs, and they have been addressing this.

What did the Duc salesman say?

Or I could just be a cheap bastard (yes, still riding the same POS...damn thing won't die)

Had I bought one (and still might), regardless of where I would have made the purchase, it would have been taken to Peninsula in Oakville for logistical reasons. I don't enjoy that trek home from GP Bikes.
Not much chance anyone buying a Ferrari bases their decision on cost of servicing.
The Panigale is in the same category.
Riding one is believing.
I'm sceptical by nature.
The Panigale passed with flying colours.
I can't tell you if you're cheap, or smart Chris. I've have about 14 bikes since I last ran into you.

It's not just the interval...just to INSPECT the valves the whole bike literally has to be taken to pieces because of the frameless/monocoque construction. As in front & rear wheels no longer connected, engine laying on a table surrounded by bits...something in the neighbourhood of 16+ shop hours and $3k+...

Dumbest thing I did was take demo rides on a Multi & Hyperstrada. Ducati is making some very sweet bikes now.
But there is something to be said about a bike you can keep running with a socket set & screwdriver. :D

Waiting for GP to land their first in October. I'll probably pull the trigger after a test run.

Wouldn't Apex in Cambridge be closer to you?

I've never checked Ric, but I know there's only 2 stop lights, and I'm on the Red Hill Ex to QEW in less than two minutes. I've only heard good things about the mechanics in Oakville.
(sales side of things could use a good mop & bucket though).
