I'm happy they dumped the stupid looking exhaust the 250 has for a more generic cylinder ala the ninja that will promptly get removed and replaced by something else when I get one of these. Apparently not hitting the dealers until April anyway. I'm a little disappointed with the seat hight. It's just a shave taller than the 250, which for someone 6' tall is a really short bike. I was hoping for a bigger bike, not just more cc.

Cannon on the side seems so 90's to me, though.
 
Looks good, I've been waiting for the manufacturers to step up and import nice looking 500cc starter bikes for years. I wish I had this wonderful array of beginner bikes to choose from when I started riding. Maybe it'll force suzuki/kawasaki to update their 500's?

Kawi replaced their 500's with several 650s (Versys, ER6N, 650R/ER6F).
 
That's the problem, people need sub-600cc bikes for insurance purposes. I was quoted the same price for a ninja 650r as I was for a 600cc super sport because it was in the same displacement range....while a 500cc was almost half the price.

Are you getting your quotes from StateFarm? Because otherwise the SS is way more expensive. In my experience if you are only going with StateFarm you're going to get much higher quotes for non-SS bikes than you will from other insurers.

I actually wish an SS would cost me almost the same as the 650R (assuming the SS was as cheap, not that the 650R was as expensive). I'd give one a try in that case.
