90% of people don't utilize 120hp when it's strapped to 4 wheels and 3000lbs, let alone 2 wheels and 400lbs. Some are intelligent enough to know that bigger doesn't mean better, it simply means bigger. There's a reason not every car on the road is a big, dumb Hummer or some other grotesque SUV.

except in Brampton the home of the largest collection of useless 4wd vehicles i've seen...the performance gains 20"+ polished rims and 45/40 series tires will give an H2 hummer is amazing...not..
 
Twice in the last month I've almost gone hood surfing in Brampton, first it was a white H2, the second time it was a Range Rover. There should be special licences for SUV's, where the tests are extremely difficult so the typical a$$hat can't get one and drive it.
 
Silly argument.

I'm on my 20th bike. I've had supersports and Harleys.
I chose my current ride (DR650) based on its fun factor and it's utter composure when commuting in the city. Downsizing? Why not? I've surprised many a sportbike rider on my ugly Dual Sport. I previously had a 750 GSXR, but it wasn't comfortable for me.

Engine size aside, it's the best bike for my riding, with the added bonus of cheaper insurance (and I can fit the bike AND both cars in the garage in winter)
 
I'm going to laugh so hard if you ever work for Nissan.

All of Honda bikes are the best ... Own a Honda and will always own a Honda ... Not saying the rest is bad but everyone is entitle to their own preference and opinion and mine is that Honda is the best and will continue to the be the rest I know a lot will disagree but go right ahead ... The only bikes that last with fewer issues than the rest .

I used to believe that if Honda motorcycles weren't "the best," then they were finished more nicely or had better reliability.

...and I was wrong. All Japanese manufacturers have had problems from time to time.

Nope. Especially in europe, all I saw over there were scooters and smaller bikes. I hear that asia is the same.

Another issue here is the cost of insurance for bigger bikes. Bikes are viewed here mostly as a toy/hobby and forking over the value of the bike every few years just for insurance makes them much less desirable, especially when you take climate into account. In Europe and Asia they're considered a cheap form of transportation where I imagine insurance is 'optional' (Asia more so than Europe).
 
How's Kawasaki ninja 400r doing?
 
The 400R is unattractive because it is basically the ninja 650R but with a smaller engine. So why go for the 400R when you can get the 650 for a bit more?

A lot of people who "downsize" or get another bike is mostly because they know what they're looking for after finally getting their dream bike (e.g. Yamaha R1). Than they realize the ergonomics (most important decision for most), economic factor of it isn't what they expected.

If someone tells me the ergonomics and usability of a R1 on the street is better than ...say...a Triumph Street triple. Than I guess image override all common sense in your world.

If this quote doesn't apply to you...come back when you have a couple more years of riding experience.
 
but back to the topic....I think I speak for most riders interested in the CBR400R here.

If Honda makes a CBR400R that is sporty looking like their supersport or superbike and a bike that is as flickable as the 250 with twice it's power.... I'm pretty sure a lot of us would consider getting one based on economic and usability factor of a smaller size sport bike.

to the guy above, its rumoured to be a parallel twin...

Maybe the same could be said for the CB600 vs CBR400rr? Cost differential probably won't be big so why bother with the smaller bike? Either way, it doesn't make sense in a Canadian market where we don't have license restrictions on motorcycles compared to Europe.

They would do well to bring this back, give it 70HP+, usable gearing and updated plastics and hope insurance companies don't ping it super sport rates.
It would make for awesome competition to the sv650s.

A 400cc bike from Honda is something I'd definitely be interested in. Don't get me wrong I love my 250 and it meets pretty much all requirements for commuting and weekend rides but it'd be nice to have slightly more usable power.
 
You know, that's the only viable explanation for someone to downgrade from a 600cc to a 250cc, what else can it be? They don't have what it takes to control a 600cc beast so they go down to a 250cc. It's like those that lack confidence and ask the uglier girls for a dance instead of the hot ones.

Or they want to save on gas and insurance or maybe a smaller bike is easier to maneuver in heavy downtown traffic.
