Anyone hear anymore news on this one?

IIRC, Europe is changing their graduating licenses to implement a 50HP maximum category, which is where this bike will fall into...

I found the comment below interesting, I wonder if this is true in NA.

"...Making around 50bhp, the 400 would have roughly twice the power of the CBR250R, but still less than half that of the CBR600RR, making it a perfect stepping stone between learner machines and full-on sports bikes, sales of which are dropping off worldwide as riders increasingly turn to less intimidating, slower bikes."

Wow thats awesome it would be an interesting bike. But I dont believe that lie about supersport bike sales going down, are you joking, they have doubled. I also never heard of anyone having a 600cc and downgrading to a 250.

hope it looks more sporty than the ugly *** CBR250 which SHOULD have been labelled the VFR250...

The 600cc CBR looks fugly too, the ugliest of the sport bikes out there. I'll give the Gixxer the most awesome look with the R6 stuck in the middle.

You need to get out of your bubble from time to time.

I know many who downgraded from a 1,000 to a 600.

Wimps or limp wrists (no wrist control, or mind control) Lol.

It's true.

I know of a dealer in the Toronto area that still has a brand new 2007 Honda CBR1000R. It's been caught between the dealer/Honda wanting to lose as little as possible on it and people realizing that as soon as they start the engine, it's now a used 2007 Honda CBR1000R, and take a look at the market value of those.

One of the interesting tidbits about Kawasaki's recall on the 2011 - 2012 ZX10R is that we now know how many they built for the entire North American market over two model years ... just over 4000 of them. It's also worth noting that the 2008-2010 generation was the first time for that model that it carried over for three model years, and given that the 2013 model only has minor tweaks, that'll be the third model year for that one. The Yamaha R1 has been the same (only minor tweaks) since 2009 ... 2013 will be the fifth model year of that one, the longest they've ever left it unchanged (aside from the minor revision to include traction control). The Honda CBR600RR has been the same since 2008.

The market for Japanese four-cylinder supersport bikes has been going down as people gravitate towards naked bikes, dual-purpose, motards, bikes from European manufacturers, and ... smaller bikes.

Honda builds approximately 15 million motorcycles per year worldwide. Fewer than 1% - much fewer - consist of the CBR600 and CBR1000.

Aside from inclusion of traction control and ABS which some models already have (and which is likely to be legislated into place in Europe), it's rather likely that the manufacturers will come very close to stopping development on these models, only changing things when absolutely necessary. The trend of having a redesign every two years is too expensive to maintain.

I also never heard of anyone having a 600cc and downgrading to a 250.

My Mom sold her Katana 600 to get a 2012 CBR250R w. ABS.
My 76 year old step dad also sold his Ducati 906 Paso for a matching CBR250.

You know, that's the only viable explanation for someone to downgrade from a 600cc to a 250cc, what else can it be? They don't have what it takes to control a 600cc beast so they go down to a 250cc. It's like those that lack confidence and ask the uglier girls for a dance instead of the hot ones.

It's funny how you compare CC's to confidence in getting girls. Awesome analogy there.

People downgrade to 250's for numerous reasons.
Picture this:
If you lived near downtown, 20 mins from work, and 80% of your commuting was done in the city, would you justify keeping the 600cc GSXR paying higher insurance, more for gas, worries about condo theft, AND still be unable to even utilize 15% of the bike's potential 80% of the time?

I think most sane people would "downgrade" to a 250 or even a 125 in this situation. Many people use bikes for transportation not just recreation. My 250r does everything I need it to (takes me to school, work etc, 70-100km's of traveling daily), and I regularly ride a 2009 GSXR600 on the weekends. I can see the appeal to both bikes, but saying that the only viable explanation for going down in CC's is that they don't have what it takes to handle a 600, is something I would expect from someone that has an IQ of room temperature.

I know a few people that have and even a one who downgraded to a cibber125 but the one who downgraded to a cbr125 also kept his cbr600.

If Honda ever develops that rumour, it will likely be JDM/Asian Market only. The CBF600, NC700, XR650L, Shadow 750 are the "step up" bikes for Honda in North America.

They could introduce a sleeved down "CBF400" similar to the Ninja 400, although I doubt it would be any more successful.

It's also note worthy that everywhere else in the world except NA and some parts or Europe, that small displacement bikes rule the roads, ( in some cases even over cars) and is what makes up most of the percentage of those bikes manufactured. People get 600s and other ss's (IMO) for the look firstly.

The front end of the newer Gixxers looks like a massive zip about to pop. Why did Suzuki ruin the front end so badly with the bloated headlight? Yuck.

I flashed a guys R1 the other day, it was limited to 80HP! He was from France!!

Will have to see if there's a France Kijiji, could make a killing over there! :D

I agree with DOHC1, a 250 is perfect for daily commuting and the sole reason why I downgraded and sold my SRAD and F4I. If honda proves to come through on the rumours of a 400cc I woundn't mind investing in one.

All of Honda bikes are the best ... Own a Honda and will always own a Honda ... Not saying the rest is bad but everyone is entitle to their own preference and opinion and mine is that Honda is the best and will continue to the be the rest I know a lot will disagree but go right ahead ... The only bikes that last with fewer issues than the rest .

And in the end they get a shag from a less attractive chick while you get shot down by a hot one...congrats.

90% of people don't utilize 120hp when it's strapped to 4 wheels and 3000lbs, let alone 2 wheels and 400lbs. Some are intelligent enough to know that bigger doesn't mean better, it simply means bigger. There's a reason not every car on the road is a big, dumb Hummer or some other grotesque SUV.
