2013 Demo Days

oh i think i remember you, I saw a red cbr250 in parking lot while i was there. I took out the cbr250 at 2pm and 600RR at 3pm.

This is the first time I rode the 600RR, to my surprise it is much more comfortable than my R6. It feels more balanced in everything, bike is thinner and lighter (IMO). Compared to the 250, the clutch takes some strength to pull though, ie at the lights I need to put the bike in neutral as my fingers are too tired to hold the clutch while I wait, but on the cbr250 i can hold it all day.

Maybe, did it have a tailbag on? I think I left right around 2pm, so I might have been pulling out as you went on your ride.

I noticed the same thing too with the 600 compared to my 250 regarding the clutch -- but I figure I could get used to that over time. I also noticed the engagement point was almost at the end, so it was harder to slip than my 250 as well (something I'd adjust with new levers if I bought).

My issues with the 600 over my 250 was more the different seating position (which I'd get used to over time, or get risers to help), plus it's a little harder to get a foot down -- otherwise it was a great bike, maybe not the slam-dunk I hoped, but still a great bike. I've also sat on an R6 at a few shows, but it's even more aggressive of a seating position, and way too tall for my short 29" inseam lol.

I agree, I have 1999 R6 and I sat on a 2012 R6, it feels more aggressive, the bike feels bigger too I have to stretch my arms all the way out to reach the handle bars, and I don't sit comfortable on the bike. I would bet it will be more tired to ride also.

The CBR600 clutch's friction zone is almost all the way out because it is a slipper clutch, which is different than the normal one on the 250. They say that it will change gear faster and smoother.

The new Ninja 300 also has that feature on the clutch, I will be trying it out this Thursday in Snow city. Lol!

As far as I know, the CBR600 doesn't have a slipper -- I read a lot of people complaining how even with the revised 2013 model it still doesn't have one like some other models do. Easy enough to adjust things though either with new levers or just by adjusting the freeplay in the cable.

just called RideMotorcycles in Vaughan about their Monster demo this week, you need:

-full M license
-own riding gear

doesn't appear to be any group rides or bookings; they'll let you take the bike and ride it around a bit whenever you want

it's also weather dependent, so it has be relatively clear skies and roads have to be dry

Oh strangely the guy at the sign up booth told me it has one!

i just did some research and it does appear to not have one.

good to know, thank you.

Friend of mine went to Kahuna and they gave him a Diavel for an hour. He'sgot his full M , though.

Did he need his own insurance or the event covers it?

Wasn't an event. Just walked in and started looking at it (no real intention to buy, just liked the bike). Sales guy came over and told him he could give him a test ride if he wants. Friend said he wants to show it to his Dad that lives about 30 minutes away. Sales guy said no problem, see ya in about an hour. He did say he had to show proof of insurance and sign a few forms, though. He liked the bike's power but didn't like the handling. He rides a 'busa.

just finished the yamaha demo @ snow city. these guys let us on the 401!
i took the fz6r out. smooth power delivery and very comfortable seating position. good upgrade from a 250 or for anyone tired of sore backs from ss.

Do we need to book Ducati test rides from GP? Last year I dropped by to get something and they had sign ups on the spot (some random Saturday, can't remember). Will be dropping by GP this Saturday and am wondering if they'll have any Ducati's to test.

Hey I just came back from there too, but I was at 3pm I took the YZF-R6 out. It is actually my favourite/dream bike until today after riding it all i feel is this bike has NO power in low/medium rev, if you rev higher than just 8000rpm, yes you get the power but the bike rattles like you are sitting on a giant vibrator.

I know the bike is fast and won many races but for street riding, I am very disappointed. Luckily they have demos, otherwise I would have bought the new R6 and replaced my model year 1999.

I tried very hard to think of the redeeming feature of this bike, like being not powerful in low/med rev means a safer(slower) ride, the good looks, aggressive body shape, etc. But I still couldn't get my mind off the vibrations.

It was nice dreaming of you, goodbye now Yami R6...

I love reading stuff like this. Someone that actually takes time to use their noodle and look past "oh yeah it's a ______ and i'll be so cool and I GOTTA HAVE IT!!!!!"

I had the exact opposite effect after my first demo ride. I went from a 600 to my first liter bike about 3 weeks later. lol

THANKS HONEY! :p

I stay away from demo rides now. I'll surely wind up with a Busa or something completely crazy like that.

Even buying parts from a dealer is dangerous for me. I sat on a CBR1000RR once at Ready. It's fits PERFECT!

So yeah, I don't sit on other bikes at dealers anymore either! :/

Has anyone been to Suzuki demo on a race track (e.g. Mosport)?

How are they going to do demo rides there?
If you are referring to the demos done at the CSBK races, they start off from in the padock and then ride on the roads in the surround town
