2012 Season Opener SOAR Superbike Series Round #1 THIS WEEKEND!!!!!

Really nice Promo Sunny and Drew. I'm impressed! Of course it's all going to come to a crash landing when the classic rock station finds out Drew is The Biebers number #1 fan :p

Keep the clips coming!

Could anyone give me some info on best or even available places to watch from?? Last year I went up and watched part of an endurance race... I can't really describe where I was in terms of corner number, but all I can say is I was on what was once a paved road, and it was near the pits and relatively close to the food shack/washrooms. It wasn't much of a passing area though, low speed-ish and somewhat single file it seemed like. Can you watch near any of the corners at the end of a straight away?? I'm bringing some friends that have never seen a bike race before, and I don't want them to think it sucks on the first time out, so any good intel is much appreciated!

Easy as pie eh?

Just curious about any costs, amenities, risk of theft (I don't have an enclosed trailer), who accepts cash only and who accepts debit/credit? Just want to be prepared as much as possible before I show up tomorrow.

Is there anyone on site that does vinyl and sewing patches? I haven't been able to get numbers for the bike yet.

1) Cash or credit works for most. SOAR does debit I think.
2) Risk of theft is relatively low. I'm at work today but my bike and most of my stuff is up there right now resting quietly.
3) Trackside Cuts does numbers and leather patches at the track

I just got back... Great day of racing.

I did notice that most races seemed to have 1 or 2 guys that seemed to be way out classed. I saw someone get lapped in 3 laps

Looking on kijiji now for a track bike.

Did the Racer5 program this weekend. I understood very quickly why people track/race and put the street bike away. It only took one practice.

I still have a lot to learn (125s are a great bike for this exercise), but I will definitely see you at the track again.

Highlights: a 5th place finish out of 11 in my first ever race.
Lowlights: 2 crashes, including one dizzying tumbler.

Overall, great fun!

Huge props to everyone who took the racer5 school, looked like all of you guys were having a blast!

Friday and saturday were fantastic weather wise, i couldn't have been having a better time at my first race weekend. Sunday was DISASTER with the rain, sun, rain, sun, rain, sun, but for the most part everyone seemed to do really well coping with it. The rookie race got a bit of sunshine that really made a huge difference in grip from i think even the race right before us. I was a genuine rossi in the rookie race, but only in the sense that my ambition outweighed my talent. Misjudged trying to make a pass in a section thats really almost too tight to do so, ended up having to go for the brakes to avoid a collision and tucked the front, with minimal consequences to me and the bike. Bit of a shame seeing as how we were battling for 5th or 6th with a lot of laps to go but live and learn.

As much as track days ruin riding on the street, racing ruins track days. That was SO much fun mixing it up with other riders of similar skill levels, and completely changed the way i look at track riding. Cant wait for next round! Boooyaaaa

I don't like rain.. but if I had rains I might have gone out..

1st race weekend since Oct 2010, 1st time on my new bike and 1st time riding at Grand Bend. I won the Open Sprint qualifier and was 3rd in Superbike so despite sitting out Sunday afternoon due to heavy rain I am still pleased with how I did. 3 weeks until Round 2!

Really enjoyed my first race weekend. the stress of tire choice was the worst stress of the weekend because the track had lots of dry and was drying fast but everyone was still going out on rains. I went with slicks and it worked out in the end. got pole in both my qualifiers and ended up winning pro6 Dunlop and Rookie cup.

Met lots of great people and cant wait for the next round

The guys who ran superbike in the rain are insane. Top 3 guys were all sorts of sideways on many parts of the track, wot coming out of corners, must have balls so big it'd be hard to walk.

The one arm tire changer this weekend.

Oh you're you! Yes I owe you a coffee for sure. Round #2, coffees will be delivered. How do you take it?

My first win was in the rain, but my last highside was also in the rain.. so I have very mixed feelings about wet tracks. I suppose I'll be chasing points in Superbike and Open Sprint this year so I might have to do some rain riding.

Got my first podium with a 2nd place in Lost Era Lightweight. You know, the second race of the day, when the torrential downpour started on about lap 3. LOL.
