2009 Ford Escape I4 4WD

my 97 ram 2500 5.9L cummins gets about 1100k's to a tank. to fill when empty takes 135bucks. to lazy to do the math but i don't think its to bad

Honestly, if I could have found a good 12valve cummins when I was shopping I would have picked one up... But, my Canyon was in pretty much new condition and I didn't want to feel like I was driving a junk pile around. The only ones for sale are all beat up, any that are good the owners hold on to.

But yeah, you kill me in $/km!

My wife has a 2007 escape she bought new in 07, it a v6 4wd it has 213,xxx km on it, since then I did a complete brake job, one rear parking assist sensor went ($50 on ebay) aand just 2 weeks ago the alternator went, bought a rebuilt one for $160 and installed myself....took just over 2 hours...and its a real bugger to do, but that all the problems we have had with it, I change the oil regular with Rotella T synthetic and every other change I drain 4 quarts from tranny and throw in fresh 4 quarts, as the filter is internal on these babies. I rust check it every year and it still drive nice and tight. The big thing is taking care of it, yes the trannies can be expensive but take care of it and it will do the same back, now as for the I4 I have no experience with them.

Doesn't that 3.0L motor use 5W20 oil?? Rotella? 5W40 stuff?

A canyon VS Ram 2500 are worlds apart...they don't even do the same job/take the same pay load.....have the same payload for axle/frame/suspension...

Its very odd to compare a mini truck to a 1/2 Ton truck/Full sized truck.

That's why I ended up getting rid of the Canyon, I was simply over working it and needed a full size.
But, considering my Canyon was in such good shape (I bought it with low KM and kept it in near perfect shape) I didn't want to go out and buy an older truck that someone else hasn't looked after... I had looked around for a while. I didn't want to feel like I was buying something that I needed lots of work, as I don't have the time or shop to fix a truck up to where I would be happy with it.

No doubt the 2500 is leaps ahead as far as being a "truck", but it would have been a downgrade in so many ways just so I could have a 12 valve diesel.

****.

I can f'in hear the Sirius XM bleed thru my music when I play Bluetooth or AUX audio.

And Ford apparently said:

(1) If you hear the satellite radio program previously selected faintly in the background replace the ACM. Refer to WSM, Section 415-00.

(2) If the customer complaint is of satellite bleed through with the volume very high this is normal and no service action should be taken.

What is a moderate level and wtf is a high level ??? Would I even qualify for (1), if bumper to bumper (60k) warranty is over ?

Prepare yourself to be on a first name basis with the people at your local ford dealership and mechanic.

Yes thats what ford recommends, but have been using it in the escape since 105000km with no ill effects, also use it in my 08 Sierra, 2000 929rr, 2010 MTD riding mower, and 2010 yardmachine snowblower and no problems so far.

I did 138k on a 2010 model. Lower trail arms got loosy goosy and rattled around and sounded junky but, it still tracked and drove well until I turned it in. I think I was quoted a $200 per side for labor and parts. The bushings fail after some time so, it will eventually happen even if they have been replaced. It's a cost of ownership unless you don't mind the sound when it start to occur.

The engine idled a bit rough and caused the antenna to shake but, other than that, was a pretty good ittle buggy.

Other than fuel and oil changes, it was pretty reliable.

We have a 2010 2WD model with the little V6 in it. We needed the V6 as we tow a tent trailer. The Escape has been great so far! We have no issues with the Sirrius bleeding through to the USB or blue tooth. It has great fuel economy at 90kph (6L/100km) and good at 110kph (about 7.5L/100km). The mileage drops to about 11L/100km hauling the trailer and a full load of camping equipment in the car.

My only complaint is the little gas tank, but I also don't get sticker shock at the gas pumps filling it either.

53,000km, and just oil changes so far.
