2008 cbr1000rr vs 2010+

I have an 08 and it doesn't have the oil burning issue.

Not all 08 models were affected by this "problem".

Why do you feel the need to explain anything. It would be a waste of everyone's time. That being said move on. this is over and done with.

RedDragon

This whole forum is a waste of everyones time.

But your previous response was classic. :)

08 - 2010 only difference is the CPU the 09+ are 10-deg retarded over the 07-08.

I assume you mean "....over the 08." As the 08's + have a completely new and different engine from the 2007 and older 1000's. As I understand it. The only thing that is a carryover from the 2007 model year to the 2008 is the front forks. Engine, frame, swingarm, wheels, brakes....all is new. Even the battery is 2.5 pounds lighter in weight.

I just looked it up and learned that the 08, 09, 10 & 2011's are sprung for a 220 lbs rider (that's rider weight without gear). Checked some other newer sport bikes and some are similar. A quick change in front fork springs and rear shock spring will work wonders for lighter riders. Checked a few years old Suzuki 750 and its ideal rider weight is 160 lbs.. This is from the factory as delivered to our doors. Just some info. :)

Yeah and unfortunately it barely has enough juice to start the bike. That battery was a blunder on Hondas part.

Ya, when the started button is pushed there is a momentary pause then it rolls over fine and starts instantly. Don't know if that is the battery with its whopping 7 AH or the new smaller starter with the rare earth magnets. I used a heated vest on one once for an hour and it worked 100%. (Bike running of course). So the alternator which puts out 400 watts if I recall correctly was strong enough.

There was a poll on the whole burning-oil question done over at the fireblade/cbr forum. All years up to current. Came out that ~40% EACH YEAR suffered from the burning issue. Go look at it. I'm not going to argue it. There was a bike mag that had a '10 Fireblade as a long-term test mule and found it to burn ~1quart each 1000mile and they found this rather odd as well. Honda's response to them "1quart per 1000miles is within spec" and that's what you'll hear from your dealer if you get one. Wasn't acceptable to me. There isn't a fix from Honda unless it's burning more oil than this.

07-2011 are all the same <06 is different.
Just put it to rest. That's not even what he's asking. Plus you're wrong. The only difference between the 07 from the 06 is a black swingarm on the 07.

And so do the other manufacturers such as Kawasaki, Yamaha... that I know of.
