Any suggestions for accommodations and routes

I have searched the forum and got some good ideas but wonder if someone has a good route for 2 days

Looking for Mountain roads, lots of scenic views and lakes

I stayed in St Marys at the Best Western. I went on 666, 948, 555, 348, 321, 872, and many others in the area.

I stayed at kane motel, in kane. $57 ish for just me - mom and pop owned, quiet little town and you can walk to a 24hr gas station for supplies! .

since you are doing 2 days i'm gonna say ditch the south-west part of the map and make you sure get to the roads on elk and sproul forest state. great pavement and scenery. fuel up at the top or bottom of the mountain cuz fuel is about every 120-130 miles.

is cheap and well situated for 44/144/Wycoff
Gas right at the motel.

Posted elsewhere but might be useful here - Penn is a good ride even into October with good gear and colours are superb. It's nice to be only 4 hours from home in case weather turns ugly.

It's about 300k from Mississauga, perhaps half slab to south of Buffalo and 16 is not bad tho 240 maybe more interesting.
Should be doable in 4 hours tho the small towns will slow you down and the depends on the border wait times.
Coudersport is a good start point as 44/144 are nearby - down to Renovo and past to 144 and then find Wycoff Run.
It might be easiest to hang a right at 120 and hit the north end of Wycoff at the bridge then go south on Wycoff for much fun.
Then pick up 144 over the mountain to Renovo but might be a bit tricky as very poor GPS coverage and a tangle of roads in the area that the maps I had were not very clear on.

From Renovo on the way north go left on 120 and pick with 144 north or go 10 miles further to Kettle Creek road - very winding tho not a "speed road" - and it intersects nicely with 144 after 15 miles or so.

Cherry Creek road is fun and you can zig zag around 144 and 44 and some associated side roads.
Mind your fuel - some rural areas.
This is an idea - not sure Wycoff Run shows on here. Have fun. Have always enjoyed the area
Might be a good idea to take a printed map as there is no cell coverage and even the GPS is spotty.
This is Coudersport to Renovo - Yesterdays is good spot for food but service is slow. These are large so need to be downloaded for detail likely.

this South through Renovo to 144 but as mentioned finding Wycoff might be an issue so going west to the bridge end on 120 from Renovo and then south might be easier.
There are detailed directions for Wycoff on some of the motorcycle roads sites.

Have fun mind the deer. elk and in a few areas on the way down, bear warnings.

This was a second day ride plotted out - The Allegheny Park is pretty but not comparable to 44/144 for fun. Fairly easy to get off course as what doesn't show are the mountains which mess up sense of direction as the roads tend to follow the valleys tho the best roads go up and over.

btw in the morning, it's pretty cold in the mountains.. 14 degrees ish and it might be lower now. rain gear in a pinch worked for me and i brought a ua turtleneck.

and yeah 144 is gdlk !

We did an overnight ride to Williamsport and stayed at the Comfort Inn on East 3rd Street. Newly renovated and clean. Extra points for letting us park our bikes under the canopy right next to the front doors.

We rode parts of 44, 144 and 120 and would recommend any and all of these roads. BTW, I have heard that any road with a 4 in it is a decent bike road.

Just a heads up that patches of Kettle Creek Road are gravel. Also when I was down last weekend they had just re-surfaced parts of 44 and 144 (tar and chip) and there were portions where there was still loose aggregate mostly in the middle of the lane.
Thanks for the gravel warning, we will take it easy

I don't recall any gravel on Kettle Creek during the August long weekend. Mind you I was loafing and the Burgman likes gravel and dirt so might not even have noticed.

That sucks that 44/144 are messed - that smooth old pavement was great. :(
Glad I got two days of fun in.

I jsut went mid week last week and did the following 2 day route. I took my time, easy pace. I let people pass when they wanted, some let me pass when they could let me. Had a blast. Elk & Deer all over.

Day 1 Hamilton to Lock Haven.
Lock Haven was a last min change, I was soaked thru my rain gear (rain started on 144) and hotels can be hard to come by with all the gas workers. The little league world series was also on on Williamsport so that took a few rooms too. Day one did have Wycroft Run and Hyner View Look out but i did those on day 2.

Day 2 Lock Haven to Hamilton stops on Hyner View & I ran down & back up Wycroft run.
Stopped in Weedville for a really good BLT

Good BLT location (extra bacon & cheese)

Well they are not really "messed up" - its not for long sections and mostly its just a little build up in the middle between the tire tracks - I didn't have any problems because there are warnings posted for those sections for "road work" and "tar and chip", and it was a warm day, so it was sticking to the road pretty good. And it should be more packed down by the weekend.

I didn't have any problems on Kettle Creek either, its not deep gravel and its only a few miles total out of the entire run. I wouldn't recommend skipping the road because of those small sections, but also its nice to know they are there before you head on them - and nice to know its only a few maybe mile long stretches before you hit paved for good.

Looks pretty good but I would try to add the stretch of 144 between Renovo and Snowshoe. The part just south of Renovo (coming over the mountain) is tons of fun. You really can't go wrong in that area as it's 100 times better than riding in Ontario.

+1

Hyner view state park is well worth a detour.
