182km/h in an 80.

what a dumbass, hes got the nuts to go that fast in an 80 but decided to stop, what did he think was going to happen? lol

I'm guessing the cop who clocked him asked another cruiser to intercept him.

why does that make him dumb? he was speeding... he decided running wasn't worth the risk...

If you're willing to break the law in such a way it seems logical to go all the way. I'd have a hard time pulling over if I were in that situation given what the outcome would be should I stop.

Id love to see his insurance premiums after this

A guy blew past me on the 427 today around 8pm on a bike doing at least 220kph.....can I have prime time media coverage too?

Logical? The guy was doing a solid 100km/hr above the posted limit. Logic was out to lunch with reason.

Logical? Let me think - HTA 172 charge vs. CRIMINAL charge of avoiding the police... hm, logic...

Meh, been discussed to death already. If you're willing to risk it all by going that much over the limit then there isn't that much more added to it if you decide to run. When I say logical I'm just implyimg that someone who is doing that type of thing doesn't have much regard for the law to begin with, so it isn't much of a stretch to believe they might as well just go for broke.

Regardless of what some people want you to believe on here, it is rather easy to ditch a cop before they even have a chance of calling their buddies for help.

The consequences of getting caught can't be worth it. It might seem worth it, being young and dumb...

But get a criminal record and good luck crossing the border, getting a job with a bank, getting a job in any professional career.

Want to go into biz? Who's gonna do biz deals with someone with a criminal record? Hell, you may not even be able to rent an apartment. That shows up on credit checks, and I throw those applications away.

But hey, a momentary buzz up to 200km/hr is totally worth potentially screwing yourself up.

If you're a good rider and smart about the territory, the consequences of running are virtually nothing. Stopping could mean the end of your life as you know it, if you depend on a license. Stopping, today, with our mentality of harsh penalties rather than progressive training/rehabilitation is just as stupid as running... but it's virtually certain to change your life rather than the alternative which is only possible.

Harsh laws, at least in cases where nobody is harmed, are bad laws.

Really ?

Anyone ever done this ?

I've seen it happen about once a year. I'll see a cop chasing a bike and then a few lights down his cherries are off and he's just going with the flow of traffic. I've been told a few stories of how people ran and go away, only one person told me they actually got caught. Surprisingly they didn't get a criminal charge(here's a clue for all you guys out there, just cause they CAN doesn't mean they will). The only reason he got caught was because he admitted to it after the fact.

If they don't catch you in the act it's an uphill battle to do much to you. Have you ever been pulled over by a cop and thanked for actually stopping. Ever wonder why?
