11 months

Pat Lafontaine, Eric Lindros, Marc Savard. All players that got their heads rattled came back too soon and eventually retired before their expiration date.

Crosby is not wanting to join that list.

how many players from the pre-helmet days had a short career due to this ?

again, the ice was just as hard, the boards were harder, Sticks werehunks of wood, pucks weighed the same. if anything it was more dangerous to play back then, than it is now.

Im actually shocked how people are reacting to this. if a co-worker took 11 months off work cause of a smack to the head he wouldnt be respected. everyone would call him a faker.

if he had any heart, he would have helped his team win the cup. not sit at home and watch on tv.

Bad example, esp as i am quoting Leafs TV haha, but if you watch one of the old games and the speed the game flows it's like watching paint dry compared to new era. Sittler would come out and float around for his 90 sec shift and then hit the bench. Nowadays the skaters are playing 30 sec shifts flat out, they are bigger, way faster and the equipment has no give.
